Responsibilities

• Maintaining overall availability of the trading platform.
• Leading a team of 10+ individuals to drive SRE principles and TOIL reduction.
• Responding to user queries and requests as SME.
• Identifying, investigating, and resolving application/infrastructure issues affecting business with regular updates.
• Ensuring postmortems include strategic follow-ups to reduce repeats of issues.
• Identifying and implementing automation opportunities such as self-healing scripts to reduce manual tasks.
• Conducting start-of-week/day checks; monitoring alerts; overseeing high-profile processes related to exchange obligations.
• Gatekeeper to production; reviewing changes before deployments and post-change validation (Out of Hours possible).
• Collaborating with PMs, BAs, and Devs to introduce new trading platform functionality.
• Setting up and maintaining Monitoring environments; focus on observability for early issue detection.
• Participating in DR & BC exercises (Out of Hours possible).
• Engaging in regional/global process improvements and technology forums.

Job Title: Foreign Exchange Production Engineering Lead

Role Description

• WWe are seeking an experienced and highly capable Production Engineering Lead to support the Foreign Exchange businesses. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our real-time trading platforms. You will apply SRE principles to proactively manage system health, drive operational excellence, and collaborate closely with senior traders, developers, and cross-functional teams to optimize front-to-back workflows. As a technical leader, you will be responsible for maintaining platform availability, resolving complex issues, and championing automation and observability initiatives. Your ability to lead a team, communicate effectively across business and technology stakeholders, and operate under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment will be critical to success.

Your key responsibilities

• Maintaining overall availability of the trading platform

• Leading a team of 10+ individuals to drive SRE principles, improved reliability of our platforms and TOIL reduction

• Responding to user queries and requests in a timely manner; being a Subject Matter Expert

• Identifying, investigating, and resolving application/infrastructure issues impacting the business; whilst ensuring communication updates provided at regular intervals

• Ensuring internal postmortems include strategic follow-ups, in a bid to reduce repeat occurrences of issues & incidents

• Identifying and implementing potential automation opportunities such as self-healing scripts to reduce manual tasks, increase efficiency, and improve resiliency

• Conducting Start of Week/Day checks, observing and acting on monitoring alerts, and keeping oversight of high-profile technology processes, particularly those relating to exchange obligations

• Acting as the gatekeeper to production; critically reviewing all changes prior to deployments and conducting post-change validation checks (may include some Out of Hours activities)

• Working closely with Project Managers, Functional Business Analysts, and Developers to introduce new functionality and enhancements to the trading platform

• Setting up new & maintaining existing Monitoring environments; strong focus on observability for early issue detection of latency, capacity, etc

• Participating in Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Plan exercises (may include some Out of Hours activities)

• Active participation in local, regional, and global process improvement initiatives

• Engagement in wider Technology forums, ie Engineering Days, Hackathons, Data Science events, etc

Your skills and experience

• Prior leadership experience essential; managing teams of 5+

• 10+ experience in a production support, SRE, or DevOps role within a trading or financial services environment

• Strong technical skills in Linux/Unix systems, SQL, and scripting

• Strong experience with a programming language such as Python, Java, etc

• Strong experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Geneos,OpenTelemetry,Corvil)

• Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker), and CI/CD pipelines

• Have a strong understanding of thetrade lifecycle andfundamental trading systems.Knowledge of FX related products and market structureand/or algorithmic tradingadvantageous.

• Exceptional verbal and written skills, to communicate effectively with business users, technology peers, and senior management alike

• Direct trade floor experience is advantageous

• Self-motivated, proactive in nature, and ability to work independently; as well as collaboratively in a global organisation
