Job summary

The ePlane Company is seeking a Flight Mechanics Engineer (verification and validation) to test 6-DOF flight-dynamics models, build mathematical models, and perform rigorous analyses across the flight envelope. You will work with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and C/C++ to create simulations and validation plans.

You will also contribute to test design, verification scripts, and safety-oriented analyses, coordinating with cross-functional teams on certification evidence and reports.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years hands‑on experience in testing flight mechanics, dynamics, simulation and control system.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering/ Aeronautical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Controls Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of Aircraft 6-DOF equations of motion, Aerodynamics, Flight dynamics, Stability and control, Aircraft performance, Propulsion, Control systems, Numerical modelling and simulation
  • Hands‑on experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Good programming skills in Python and/or C/C++.
  • Experience with testing and validation methods, data analysis, and engineering simulations.
  • Ability to interpret aerodynamic, propulsion, and flight-test data.

Responsibilities

  • Test the 6-DOF nonlinear aircraft flight-dynamics models to their limits.
  • Develop mathematical models for aircraft rigid-body dynamics, aerodynamics, propulsion, actuators, landing gear, and environmental effects.
  • Perform aircraft trim, stability, control, and performance analyses across the flight envelope.
  • Determine and analyse aerodynamic derivatives, stability derivatives, control derivatives, and propulsion characteristics.
  • Perform longitudinal, lateral, and directional stability and controllability assessments.
  • Analyse control-system performance, stability margins, actuator utilisation, and control authority.
  • Run Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) iron-bird, and flight-test simulations.
  • Compare simulation results against flight test or analytical data and generate reports.
  • Design test cases, write test scripts and verification procedures etc..

Job description

As a Flight Mechanics Engineer (verification and validation), the following work area and skill sets awaits you:

Roles and Responsibilities
1. Aircraft Flight Mechanics & Dynamics
  • Test the 6-DOF nonlinear aircraft flight-dynamics models to their

2. Modelling & Simulation
  • Develop and maintain testing environments using MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, or equivalent tools.

  • Test and mature the aircraft, propulsion, actuator, sensor, environment, and flight-control models.

  • Perform model correlation against wind-tunnel, component-test, ground-test, and flight-test data.

  • Establish model validation processes.

  • Evolve aircraft response characteristics such as Time constants, Natural frequencies, Control response, Hover and transition response etc.

  • Develop and simulate failure, fault, and degraded-mode scenarios.

  • Support FHA, FMEA, FTA, SSA, and system safety activities from a flight-dynamics perspective.

3. Flight-Test & Data Analysis
  • Analyse flight-test data and correlate simulation predictions with actual aircraft behaviour.

  • Investigate discrepancies between simulation, ground-test, and flight-test results.

4. Certification & Technical Documentation
  • Support preparation of engineering analyses and compliance evidence as per certification requirements.

  • Prepare technical reports, analysis notes, model documentation, simulation reports, and verification evidence.

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)
  • Experience: 2+ years of hands‑on experience in testing of flight mechanics, dynamics, simulation and control system.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering/ Aeronautical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Controls Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Strong understanding of Aircraft 6-DOF equations of motion, Aerodynamics, Flight dynamics, Stability and control, Aircraft performance, Propulsion, Control systems, Numerical modelling and simulation

  • Hands‑on experience with MATLAB/Simulink.

  • Good programming skills in Python and/or C/C++.

  • Experience with testing and validation methods, data analysis, and engineering simulations.

  • Ability to interpret aerodynamic, propulsion, and flight-test data.

Preferred Qualifications (Good-to-Haves)

Experience in one or more of the following will be highly desirable:

  • eVTOL / VTOL, UAV / UAS

  • Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation

  • Real-time simulation

  • Flight-test engineering

  • System identification

  • Wind-tunnel testing

  • DO-178C / DO-254 environments

  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
