Catalyx Space in Ahmedabad, India, is seeking a Flight Dynamics Engineer to build trajectory simulations, define reentry performance envelopes, and predict landing footprints for mission planning. You will collaborate with Aerodynamics, Systems, Propulsion, and GNC teams to ensure vehicles perform as designed across all mission phases, using Python, MATLAB, STK, and GMAT.

Aerospace degree with 3+ years in trajectory analysis and orbital mechanics is required, along with experience in 6-DOF

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of trajectory analysis, orbital mechanics, and modelling and simulation experience.
• Strong understanding of orbital mechanics, flight dynamics, and reentry trajectories.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, or C++ for numerical simulations.
• Hands-on experience with STK and GMAT.
• Experience building or working with 6-DOF trajectory models.
• Familiarity with aerodynamic databases and trajectory modelling.
• Comfortable working across Aerodynamics, Structures, and GNC teams.

• Estimate landing zones and downrange footprints.
• Model moments and aerodynamic coefficients with aerodynamics teams.

• Support actuator and control-surface sizing.
• Own the mission delta-V budget and interface with teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary vehicle systems investigations to support mission design, vehicle architecture, and analysis methodology.

Role

Catalyx Space is looking for a Flight Dynamics Engineer to build and run trajectory simulations, predict landing zones, and define performance envelopes for reentry missions. You will work closely with Aerodynamics, Systems, Propulsion, and GNC teams to ensure vehicles perform as designed across mission phases.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain trajectory simulation tools using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools
• Design reentry trajectories and evaluate vehicle performance
• Estimate landing zones and downrange footprints
• Work with aerodynamics teams to model moments and aerodynamic coefficients
• Create vehicle envelopes and safety corridors
• Provide burn timing and attitude profiles for mission planning
• Support actuator and control-surface sizing
• Own the mission delta-V budget
• Interface with internal operations teams, hardware teams, and external regulatory partners such as FAA or DGCA
• Participate in multidisciplinary vehicle systems investigations to support mission design, vehicle architecture, and analysis methodology

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field
• 3+ years of professional experience in trajectory analysis, orbital mechanics, and modelling and simulation
• Strong understanding of orbital mechanics, flight dynamics, and reentry trajectories
• Experience with numerical simulation tools such as Python, MATLAB, or C++
• Hands-on experience with STK and GMAT
• Experience building or working with 6-DOF trajectory models
• Familiarity with aerodynamic databases and trajectory modelling
• Comfortable working across teams including Aerodynamics, Structures, and GNC

• Demonstrated project or professional experience in spacecraft systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Flexibility to support extended hours or weekend work during critical mission phases
