We're building AWS for space, providing space experiments and technology demonstrations across LEO, deep space, and lunar orbit.
Our offerings include unmanned labs, testbeds for both dedicated and rideshare missions, and re-entry capsules for payload retrieval.
We simplify access to space with affordable pricing, end-to-end solutions, no minimum mass limits, zero integration fees, and quick deployment (6 months or less).
We serve biopharma, semiconductors, materials science, defense, and more.
Job Description
Catalyx Space is developing next‑generation entry systems for space applications. We are looking for a Flight Dynamics Engineer to build and run trajectory simulations, predict landing zones, and define performance envelopes for our re‑entry missions. You’ll work closely with Aerodynamics, Systems, Propulsion, and GNC teams to ensure our vehicles fly exactly as designed.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain trajectory simulation tools (Python, MATLAB, or similar).
- Design re‑entry trajectories and evaluate vehicle performance.
- Estimate landing zones and downrange footprints.
- Work with aerodynamics teams to model moments & coefficients.
- Create vehicle envelopes and safety corridors.
- Provide burn timing and attitude profiles for mission planning.
- Support actuator and control surface sizing.
- Own the ΔV budget for the mission.
- Interface with internal operations teams, hardware teams, and external regulatory partners (FAA / DGCA).
- Engage in multi‑disciplinary vehicle systems investigations to motivate mission design, vehicle architecture, and analysis methodologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in trajectory analysis, orbital mechanics, and modelling & simulation.
- Strong understanding of orbital mechanics, flight dynamics, and re‑entry trajectories.
- Experience with numerical simulation tools (Python, MATLAB, or C++).
- Hands‑on experience with STK and GMAT.
- Experience building or working with 6-DOF trajectory models.
- Familiarity with aero databases and trajectory modelling.
- Comfortable working across teams (Aero, Structures, GNC).
Preferred Skills
- Demonstrated project or professional experience in spacecraft systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.
