Job summary

Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement seeks a Senior Fleet Personnel Officer for its BSM Cruise. You will oversee crew planning, recruitment, rotations, and performance, ensuring safe, compliant manning of cruise vessels while coordinating with shipboard and shore teams.

Required is a maritime/HRS background with 5+ years in fleet personnel operations and strong knowledge of contracts, compliance, and crewing in cruise environments. English fluency is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or certificate in a maritime, hospitality, or HR-related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in fleet personnel operations, marine HR, or cruise-sector crewing.
• Experience in employment contracts, crew planning, and maritime compliance.
• Experience in cruise industry is an advantage; familiarity with maritime labour law.

Responsibilities

• Execute cruise vessel manning plans by identifying and selecting qualified seafarers per flag, customer, and company requirements.
• Review and issue employment contracts ensuring compliance with international, national, and cruise-sector standards.
• Plan crew rotations and End-of-Contract procedures to maintain vessel operations.
• Monitor vacancies and support annual manning planning.
• Coordinate embarkation/disembarkation logistics and ensure cost-effective arrangements.
• Maintain accurate crew records and documentation.
• Serve as main contact for shipboard management on crewing matters.
• Communicate operational changes and updated procedures.
• Assess crew performance and coordinate with training centers.

Job description

As a Senior Fleet Personnel Officer for BSM Cruise, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the safe, compliant, and efficient manning of cruise vessels. Acting as a key link between sea and shore, you will oversee crew planning, recruitment, rotation, and performance to ensure exceptional service standards onboard while fully adhering to maritime regulations and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute cruise vessel manning plans by identifying, evaluating, and selecting qualified seafarers in line with flag state, customer, and company requirements.
• Review and issue employment contracts ensuring full compliance with international, national, and cruise‑sector standards.
• Plan and implement crew rotations and End‑of‑Contract procedures to maintain uninterrupted vessel operations.
• Monitor current and upcoming vacancies, supporting the development of annual manning plans.
• Coordinate embarkation and disembarkation logistics, ensuring timely, accurate, and cost‑effective arrangements.
• Maintain accurate crew records and documentation.
• Act as the primary contact for shipboard management teams on all standard and emergency crewing matters.
• Communicate operational changes, ensuring vessel teams receive updated procedures and documentation.
• Assess crew performance, identify training needs, and collaborate with training centers.
• Optimize crew travel, accommodation, and related costs, ensuring value‑for‑money procurement.
• Support compliance with maritime and cruise‑industry regulations, including coordination with flag state authorities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or certificate in a maritime, hospitality, or HR‑related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in fleet personnel operations, marine HR, or cruise‑sector crewing.
• Proven experience in employment contract administration, crew planning, and maritime compliance.
• Experience in the cruise industry (hotel or marine departments) is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with maritime labour law, seafarers’ rights, and cruise‑sector manning requirements.

• Strong understanding of cruise vessel crew requirements, including both deck/engine and hotel operations.
• Knowledge of global and local employment markets within the cruise sector.
