Job summary

Aditya Birla Group in Jharkhand operates an open cast contract coal mining project in Godda district. The role focuses on survey, volume calculation, lead distribution, de-coal measurements, and timely data submission to support payments and production planning.

The candidate will conduct field surveys, generate plans, perform data calculations, coordinate with clients and contractors, and assist in planning and billing. Strong accuracy is essential.

Responsibilities

• KRA1 Conducting Field Survey: Manage resources for field work, reconnaissance of area, location and purpose, check equipment condition and base point, follow mine survey rules, apply 3D surveying concepts, ensure proper data demarcation.
• KRA2 Plotting and Generation of Plans and Sections: Download raw data, edit with corrections, prepare master data, create plans or overlays, update plans as needed, create cross-sections per plan requirements.
• KRA3 Survey data Calculation: Use statutory methods for data plotting, minimize errors, apply standard formulae, compute area, volume and tonnage, correlate measurements with field planning.
• KRA4 Coordination between Client and Contractor: Coordinate with ECL survey team, conduct joint monthly surveys, share data and plans, arrange joint surveys, certify measurements, conduct joint lead measurement and resolve disputes.
• KRA5 Planning and Billing: Provide inputs to Planning Dept, support field implementation, contribute to cost control, coordinate between HOD and team, deliver quantity certificates with data authenticity.
• KRA6 Office Management: Manage office resources and records, safeguard survey equipment and accessories, protect confidential cost data, manage manpower schedules and equipment calibration.

Job Purpose

Survey, volume calculation, lead distribution, de-coal measurement & timely data submission for release of payments.

In line with its strategy of growing aggressively in the contract coal mining sector, the Mining Business has been exploring various opportunities. After its last success in the form of Bhubaneshwari OCP of MCL, it has now been awarded a similar contract by another subsidiary of CIL.
To complement the requirement generated by the expansion plans of a public sector power generation company, this subsidiary of CIL is compelled to increase the capacity of one of its existing mines to reach a peak production level of 17 MTPA from the current level of 10.5 MTPA. This is an open cast operational mine located in Godda district in Jharkhand.
In contract coal mining, volume calculation with survey data is very important & directly impacts the revenue. In our case where coal & partial OB mining & hauling is being executed by outsourced vendor here volume calculation, lead measurement & final distribution of tonnage / volume data over different leads is very critical exercise & any sort of missing will directly impact the company's financials.
So job of survey department in contractual coal mining is very important.
Major Challenges:
1.Accurate measurement & calculation of coal & OB data with strict lead distribution
2.Accurate OB measurement & lead distribution for Outsourced vendor.
3.Assimilation of new technology for fast & accurate volume calculation.
4. Timely De-coal survey for facilitating in-pit OB dumping.

KRA1 1. Conducting Field Survey a) Manage the related resources accordingly for field work.

KRA2 2. Plotting and Generation of Plans and Sections a) Download the raw data from T. S to Computer File.
b) Do the necessary editing and apply the corrections.
c) Prepare the master data and plot it accordingly.
d) Create a Plan /part of plan / superimpose over old plan.
e) Do needful rectification to up to date it accordingly.
f) Cut & create the sections as per statutory requirement plan cross-sectional / longitudinal or vice versa.

KRA3 3. Survey data Calculation a) Statutory calculation method for data to do accurate plotting.
b) Micro level calculations to minimize the error in result obtained.
c) Apply correct & standard formulae to avoid figure mismatch.
d) Calculation of Area, Volume, Tonnage etc by suitable method.
e) Ascertain that all calculative measure is correlated with Linear, Angular and Vertical control compared to field, Plan & section.
f) Ascertain the quality of calculative measured figure out-put.

KRA4 4. Coordination between Client and Contractor a) Maintain regular coordination with Survey team of ECL.
b) Assure joint monthly survey & its volume Calculation.
c) To take out needful data, plans and sections from Client.
d) To arrange joint survey program as per requirement.
e) Certification of In-situ-Measurements & its documents.
f) Joint Lead Measurement in presence of representative.
g) Clear all disputes by re-survey, re-check or re-calculation.

KRA5 5. Planning and Billing a) Create & Provide inputs as requirement of Planning Dept.
b) Partially involved in planning to ensure implementation at field.
c) Share & take the Idea about cost control work environment.
d) To make Regular coordination between HOD and Team.
e) Responsible to achieve and provide the work done quantity certificate with detailed data and its authenticity.
f) Check the claimed quantity & lead etc of contractor’s Bill.

KRA6 6. Office Management a) Proper resource arrangement for Office & its furnishing.
b) To maintain record in proper manner - Softcopy & Hardcopy.
c) Special care taken for Survey equipments & its accessories.
d) Personal care for confidential data related to cost effectiveness.
e) Ensure about Manpower and its working schedule, leave etc.
f) Responsible for schedule maintenance of Survey equipments calibration, Plotter & Scanner, Computer with its Software, etc.
