Jobtailor in India seeks a Navigation Officer to stand regular watch, monitor bridge equipment, and keep logs up to date while ensuring MARPOL compliance and safety.

Qualifications

Must have COP Basic Polar Waters.
Must be experienced in sailing in Ice and Polar Waters.
Adequate understanding of relevant rules, regulations, codes, and guidelines.
Fully conversant with the Company's Safety Management System.
Ability to perform daily, weekly, and monthly GMDSS tests.
Ability to maintain navigation and radio logs and other required documentation.
Ability to work a 3-month onboard rotation.
Submit an updated CV, references, and latest appraisal.

Responsibilities

Stand a regular watch as assigned by the Captain.
Monitor all navigation equipment on the bridge and report defects to the Master.
Keep navigation equipment logbooks correct and current.
Perform voyage and environmental voyage planning, including MARPOL-related regulations, limits, and local regulations.
Keep chart folios and publications current according to the latest Notices to Mariners.
Maintain merchant flags and pennants.
Maintain port questionnaires and provide traffic, tidal, and current information for ports and congested waters.
Submit a final technical itinerary for each voyage to the Staff Chief Engineer.
Perform emergency duties assigned on the Muster List.
Ensure the safety and security of the vessel, passengers, and crew while on watch in port.
Safely navigate and pilot the vessel while on watch underway.
Assist the Staff Captain with safe and efficient ship operations.
Monitor communication systems and perform daily, weekly, and monthly GMDSS tests.
Maintain required documentation, including the radio log.
Perform additional duties requested by ship management.
