Jobtailor in Bengaluru, India seeks an experienced embedded firmware engineer to design, implement, and test firmware for next‑generation optical line system components such as ROADM, EDFA, and Raman.

They collaborate with hardware, FPGA, software, and manufacturing teams, develop requirements and design documents, and contribute to product quality through rigorous testing and debugging.

Qualifications

BE/BTech or ME/MTech in relevant field.
3 to 5 years of embedded software development in a multithreaded real-time environment.
Strong C/C++ programming skills, system understanding, and debugging abilities.
Hands-on experience in developing firmware and participating in requirement gathering, design, and test plan reviews.
Hands-on experience using test equipment such as traffic generators and JTAG debuggers.
Proficiency in Linux and C/C++ in embedded systems, including microcontroller-based systems.
Experience with device driver development for Linux or Real-Time Operating Systems.
Knowledge of hardware interfaces and protocols: I²C, SPI, Ethernet, and PCIe.
Hands-on experience in hardware bring-up and U-Boot bootloader.
Familiarity with Docker, JIRA, Bitbucket, and Confluence is beneficial.
Experience working collaboratively with geographically separated teams.
Familiarity with RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS and ThreadX.
Basic understanding of electronics schematics and hardware design.
Good analytical and troubleshooting abilities
Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with Zynq and ARM processors
Nice-to-have: familiarity with firmware requirements and design documentation
Nice-to-have: knowledge of optical engineering concepts
Nice-to-have: experience working with cross-functional teams
Nice-to-have: experience using AI tools such as Cursor, Gemini, and Copilot
