Job summary

IBM India Systems Development Lab is seeking a Firmware Engineering Professional to develop system firmware for IBM Power Systems spanning entry level to enterprise servers. You will work on PPE42 based embedded firmware and contribute to high-performance, reliable software across platforms.

The role requires 5–8 years of firmware experience, strong C++ with OOP, Assembly, Python scripting, RTOS/multi-threading, and expertise in build systems, device drivers, and debugging.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 5–8 years of firmware development experience in enterprise server firmware.
• Proven programming skills in C++ with OOPs, Assembly, Python scripting.
• Experience with RTOS/OS, multi-threading, device drivers, bare metal programming.
• Build systems Make/Meson/Yocto, CI/CD (Jenkins).
• Experience with hardware register manipulation, ISA/protocols.
• Familiarity with I2C, SPI, UART, NOR device drivers.
• Strong debugging skills (GDB, stack/deadlock/race condition analysis).
• Demonstrated firmware/embedded software design and development.

Your role and responsibilities

IBM India Systems Development Lab is looking for Firmware Engineering Professional in the IBM Power Systems Firmware Development team. You will be responsible for developing System Firmware that runs on IBM Power Systems spanning entry level servers to enterprise level high end servers with feature in Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS). You will work in design and develop of embedded firmware for a PPE42 based 32-bit microprocessor. You will be involved in defining and implementing high performance software by demonstrating a strong understanding of Embedded Hardware Design. You will contribute in developing an environment of continuous improvement across product lines and development groups

Required education
