Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Firmware Automation Test Engineer (Python) to design, implement, and automate tests for embedded software and firmware across server platforms. You will collaborate with global teams, lead validation efforts, and continuously improve test strategies while ensuring high-quality releases.

The role is designated as Remote/Teleworker with strong emphasis on automation, Python scripting, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver reliable edge-to-cloud

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in embedded software testing and development.
• Strong BIOS/UEFI, firmware, and server platform validation knowledge.
• End-to-end test planning, execution, defect analysis, and release qualification.

Responsibilities

• Design enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems and software tests.
• Execute and author testing plans, protocols, and documentation; identify and debug issues with code and recommend changes.
• Analyse system designs to determine coding, programming, and integration activities based on objectives and guidelines.
• Develop and maintain manual and automated test cases for embedded software features.
• Collaborate with project teams and partners to deliver reliable, high‑quality solutions.
• Communicate status and issues with internal and outsourced partners.
• Lead or contribute to validation of complex technical issues and drive decisions.
• Improve testing methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance software quality.

What you'll do:

• Design enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems and software tests.
• Execute and author testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portions of applications; identify and debug issues with code, recommending changes or improvements as needed.
• Analyse system designs to determine coding, programming, and integration activities required based on specific objectives and established project guidelines.
• Develop and maintain manual and automated test cases, ensuring thorough test coverage of embedded software features and functionalities.
• Participate as a key member of project teams, collaborating with other software systems engineers and internal or outsourced development partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions.
• Collaborate and communicate regularly with internal and outsourced partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
• Lead or contribute to the validation and resolution of complex technical issues, facilitating effective team decision‑making.
• Continuously improve testing methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance software quality and reliability.

What you need to bring:

• Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent. Minimum 5+ years’ of experience in embedded software testing and development.
• Strong BIOS/UEFI, firmware, and server platform validation knowledge.
• Experience in end-to-end test planning, execution, defect analysis, and release qualification.
• Hands‑on expertise in Python‑based test automation and firmware debugging.
• Ability to drive quality initiatives and collaborate effectively across engineering teams.
• Familiarity with AI/GenAI tools to improve test design, automation, debugging, developing AI agents to increase the productivity.
• Good with Python scripting and test automation development.
• Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and Agile development practices.
• Proficiency with software systems design tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, C, Go).
• Expertise in software systems testing methodology, including creation and execution of test plans, debugging, and use of testing scripts and tools.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to apply these to complex system‑level challenges.
• Experience designing software systems running on multiple platform types.
• Solid understanding of computer system architecture, devices, and communication protocols.
• Familiarity with embedded Linux, device drivers, and related technologies.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; mastery of English and local language.
• Ability to effectively communicate design proposals, negotiate technical options, and facilitate collaborative solutions.
• Additional Skills Proven leadership capabilities with a strong focus on execution and results.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of fault‑tolerant systems and high‑availability architectures is an advantage.
