Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Alarm Design engineer to design fire alarm systems for customer-specific standards and building codes, ensuring NFPA 72 compliance. You will independently manage projects from concept through delivery, coordinating with MEP teams and reviewing specifications.

Ideal candidates hold a BE in a relevant field, 4–10 years of Fire Alarm experience, and hands-on ACAD with knowledge of NFPA 72 and tender documents.

Qualifications

• BE in Instrumentation / Electrical / Electronics or EC.
• 4–10 years of Fire Alarm experience.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of NFPA 72, IBC and relevant codes.
• ACAD hands-on experience.
• Understanding tender documents & specifications.
• Designing Fire Alarm Systems per IBC, NFPA 72, etc.
• Must be a quick learner.

Responsibilities

• Design the Fire Alarm System per local codes and NFPA 72.
• Review MEP drawings and tender specs to identify Fire Alarm requirements.
• Prepare Fire Alarm Layout and engineering BOM.
• Ensure QA and defect-free drawings delivery.
• Adhere to processes and guidelines to complete projects on time.

The primary responsibility for this role is to design the Fire Alarm System as per customer/account specific standards & building codes and NFPA 72 standards. Follow processes, maintain required quality standards and on time deliveries to ensure customer satisfaction.

How you will do it:

• Independent execution of project throughout the lifecycle
• Design the Fire Alarm System per local codes & standards
• Review MEP drawings, Tender Specs etc. and identify Fire Alarm Requirements.
• Complete input study with the help of input checklist and raise the RFIs.
• Prepare Fire alarm Layout & engineering BOM
• Ensure quality assurance and defect free Fire Alarms Drawings delivery.
• Adherence with all processes and guidelines to execute project within timeline

What we look for:

Required

• BE (Instrumentation / Electrical/ Electronics / Electronics & Communication)
• 4-10 Years’ experience in relevant field
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Should have strong domain knowledge of Fire Alarm System
• Should be able to independently carry out Hardware Detail Design, Engineering and Application Development, Battery Calculations, Voltage drops calculations etc.
• Knowledge on NFPA 72, IBC & Relevant codes & standards.
• ACAD hands on experience
• Simplex product knowledge will be an advantage
• Understanding the tender documents & specifications.
• Designing of Fire Alarm System IBC, NBC, NFPA 72 etc.
• Must be a quick learner

Preferred

• NICET Level I & II Certified
• Simplex Product Certified
• Products: Simplex, Notifier, Siemens, EST etc.
