Job summary

Narayana Health (NH) is seeking a dedicated Fire Safety Manager to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The role includes implementing fire safety standards, conducting inspections, coordinating emergency preparedness, and maintaining comprehensive safety documentation within a hospital setting.

Responsibilities cover audits, drills, training, risk assessments, incident investigations, and liaison with authorities.

Responsibilities

• Fire Safety Management: Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, hospital safety standards, and statutory requirements.
• Emergency Preparedness & Drills: Plan, conduct, and evaluate fire mock drills and evacuation exercises across patient-care and non-patient-care areas.
• Training & Awareness: Conduct induction and periodic fire safety training for employees, contractors, and outsourced staff.
• Safety Inspection & Risk Assessment: Carry out safety rounds and hazard identification inspections; assess fire risks in ICUs, OTs, Dialysis Units, Laboratories, CSSD, and Electrical Rooms.
• Incident Management: Respond to fire incidents and safety emergencies; lead preliminary investigations and RCA for fire-related incidents and near misses.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain fire drill reports, audit reports, incident reports, and statutory records; submit periodic safety and compliance reports to hospital management.

Job Purpose

To ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and hospital assets by implementing fire safety standards, conducting safety inspections, ensuring statutory compliance, and coordinating emergency preparedness and response activities.

Key Responsibilities

Fire Safety Management

• Ensure compliance with all applicable fire safety regulations, hospital safety standards, and statutory requirements.
• Conduct routine inspections of fire detection, alarm, suppression, and firefighting systems.
• Monitor the availability and functionality of fire extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, smoke detectors, and emergency exits.
• Coordinate annual fire safety audits and ensure closure of identified non-compliances.
• Maintain fire safety records, certificates, permits, and compliance documentation.

Emergency Preparedness & Drills

• Plan, conduct, and evaluate fire mock drills and evacuation exercises across patient-care and non-patient-care areas.
• Coordinate horizontal and vertical evacuation drills as per hospital requirements.
• Ensure participation of employees in fire safety exercises and emergency response training.
• Evaluate drill performance and implement corrective actions for identified gaps.
• Liaise with local fire authorities and disaster management agencies during emergency preparedness activities.

Training & Awareness

• Conduct induction and periodic fire safety training for employees, contractors, and outsourced staff.
• Develop awareness programs on fire prevention, emergency response, and evacuation procedures.
• Train Fire Wardens, Marshals, and Emergency Response Teams (ERT).

Safety Inspection & Risk Assessment

• Carry out safety rounds and hazard identification inspections.
• Assess fire risks in critical areas such as ICUs, OTs, Dialysis Units, Laboratories, CSSD, and Electrical Rooms.
• Recommend corrective and preventive actions to reduce risks.
• Monitor compliance with safety procedures during maintenance, renovation, and contractor activities.

Incident Management

• Respond to fire incidents and safety emergencies.
• Lead preliminary investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for fire-related incidents and near misses.
• Prepare incident reports and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain fire drill reports, audit reports, incident reports, and statutory records.
• Submit periodic safety and compliance reports to hospital management.
• Track key fire safety performance indicators and present findings during safety committee meetings.
