About The Company

Founders today are building global companies from day one — but the systems that manage their money were built for a different era. Aspire exists to change that!

Founders today are building global companies from day one — but the systems that manage their money were built for a different era. Aspire exists to change that! We’re building the financial operating system for global founders, bringing banking, software, and automation into a single platform so businesses can move faster across borders and stay focused on building. Aspire is built by people who think from first principles, care deeply about solving hard problems, and take real ownership of their work. Our team brings global experience from leading fintech and technology companies, and many of us are former founders and operators who understand what it takes to build thoughtfully, make trade-offs, and deliver at scale in a global environment. Backed by leading global investors including Y Combinator, Peak XV, and Lightspeed, Aspire has been trusted by more than 50,000 startups and growing businesses worldwide to manage their finances since 2018. Together with partners like J.P. Morgan, Visa, and Wise, we’re building for the next generation of global companies.

About The Role

In this role, you'll own FinCrime Operations end to end — keeping Aspire compliant with regulatory requirements while mitigating financial crime risk. You'll lead a team of analysts, provide strategic insight to senior management, and drive the process improvements that make our financial crime risk management framework sharper and more efficient as we grow.

About The Team

Our FinCrime team protects Aspire and our customers from money laundering, sanctions exposure, offboarding risk, and other financial crime. Working closely with Compliance, KYC, and Fraud, FinCrime Ops builds and runs the monitoring controls that keep Aspire compliant and safe as we scale across markets.

What You'll Own
  • Lead and manage the FinCrime Ops team, ensuring timely and thorough handling of cases in line with internal policies and regulatory guidelines
  • Oversee a team of 8-12 analysts, tracking key operational metrics such as completion rates, quality assurance scores, turnaround times, customer interaction, and efficiency benchmarks
  • Identify underperformance trends and build structured improvement plans, including coaching, upskilling, and performance management
  • Design and enhance FinCrime Ops processes, balancing compliance requirements with operational efficiency
  • Provide strategic recommendations to strengthen controls and mitigate risks related to money laundering, fraud, and other financial crimes
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (KYC, Fraud, Compliance) to improve data collection, risk assessment, and reporting
  • Collaborate with external partners to continuously improve how we work together
  • Ensure FinCrime Ops processes align with industry best practices and global regulatory standards (AML, CFT, KYC)
  • Identify trends and emerging risks in financial crime, surfacing insights to senior management for proactive risk management
  • Develop and implement AI and automation strategies within FinCrime Ops to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Train and mentor your analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development
What You Need To Be Successful
  • 7+ years of experience and 4+ years of leadership experience in financial crime compliance, AML, KYC, risk management, or related fields within financial services or fintech
  • Strong knowledge of AML/CFT regulations, financial crime typologies, and risk assessment methodologies
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience managing operational teams and driving performance
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations clearly
  • Proficiency in compliance‑related tools, transaction monitoring systems, and data analytics
  • Professional certifications such as CAMS (Certified Anti‑Money Laundering Specialist) or equivalent
  • Experience in fintech, digital banking, or financial services
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving regulatory landscapes
  • Has a strong grasp of artificial intelligence concepts and the ability to apply AI tools (e.g. Claude, n8n, etc.) and frameworks to solve real‑world problems at Aspire.
