Job summary

American Express in India seeks a seasoned Finance professional to own monthly accounting for legal entities and manage end-to-end accounting for a major entity. You will review financials, drive cost analytics, and coordinate cross-functional process improvements.

The role requires CA/CPA or MBA with strong regulatory knowledge, and hands-on experience with Oracle/OBI, Excel, and automation tools. A hybrid work setup with growth opportunities is offered.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA with 1+ year experience or MBA with 3+ years or M Com with 7+ years.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end accounting and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of financial consolidation and regulatory filings.

Responsibilities

• Own and govern monthly accounting for legal entities.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for management & governance of monthly accounting for legal entities
• Managing end-to-end responsibility of one of the non-banking legal entities
• Monthly review of financials to provide critical inputs to entity controller on various cost analytics and services fee charge-out
• Analysis of Legal Entity Results, identification of anomalies during close
• Identify opportunities to standardize, improve and automate existing processes within/across teams.
• Plan/coordinate with various stakeholders to execute process improvement opportunities.
• Partners with various groups to identify and leverage best practices.
• Manage & govern various regulatory filings and compliances.
• Compliance with prevailing policies & procedures etc.
• Monthly/Quarterly update to Legal Governance Committee / Board members and ensuring all regulatory compliances.
• Ensure that all deadlines are continually met, and adequate controls are maintained over the processes to ensure integrity of the information.
• Maintain close contact with customer / business partners and other interface groups to ensure a smooth service delivery
• Provide end to end support for the legal entity statutory / internal / other audits including discussion with auditors and drive closure of Internal and External Audit of Local as well as US GAAP ledgers
• Coordinate with GFO/GBS functions to provide external audit support, including Reconciliations, Accounting and Payment Operations, plus World Services Cashiers as appropriate

Qualifications

Past Experience:

• CA/CPA with 1+years of experience or MBA with 3 + years of experience or M Com with 7 + years of experience.

Functional Skills/Capabilities

• Strong understanding of end-to-end accounting, basic understanding of reporting
• Understanding of financial consolidation process
• Ability to research and embed relevant best practices

Technical Skills/Capabilities

• Knowledge of financial systems – Oracle, OBI etc, Advanced MS office suits such as Excel, Word, Power-point
• Strong IGAAP/IND AS knowledge and awareness of US GAAP (Accounting knowledge)
• Analytical skills with the ability to undertake cause effect analysis
• Working knowledge of automation tools like Tableau, Python, Natural Language Generation [NLG], Machine Learning Studio [MLS] etc. would be an added advantage
