Job summary

American Express is seeking a qualified professional to join the Abandoned Property COE within the CMAC team. The role focuses on regulatory reporting, governance, and operational management of Abandoned Property Funds, ensuring compliance and strong control environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com) or equivalent specialization in Commerce/Finance.
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in Accounting, Financial Operations, Compliance, Regulatory Reporting, or Controls functions.
  • Strong accounting and financial controls knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Mainframe systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end Abandoned Property process with operational activities and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with Global Servicing Teams, GSM, Controllership, and Technology for process improvements.
  • Prepare working files and documentation for Due Diligence and sanctions screening.
  • Manage customer inquiries, conduct transaction research, and ensure timely responses.
  • Administer Abandoned Property claims and updates to payment files.
  • Assist in Abandoned Property reporting and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain internal controls and governance compliance.

The Card & Merchant Accounting & Control (CMAC) team manages the accounting of Card Spend, Remittances, Merchant Payments, and the Incentives Center of Excellence (COE), including Corporate Client Incentives, GNS Royalties, Merchant Rebates, and related accounting activities. The team also provides governance and oversight for Unclaimed Funds (Abandoned Property).

Job Description

The Card & Merchant Accounting & Control (CMAC) team manages the accounting of Card Spend, Remittances, Merchant Payments, and the Incentives Center of Excellence (COE), including Corporate Client Incentives, GNS Royalties, Merchant Rebates, and related accounting activities. The team also provides governance and oversight for Unclaimed Funds (Abandoned Property).

This role is part of the Abandoned Property COE, responsible for regulatory reporting, compliance, governance, and operational management of Abandoned Property Funds.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will support the end-to-end Abandoned Property process by executing operational activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, supporting customer servicing needs, and partnering with stakeholders to maintain a strong control environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform monthly Abandoned Property (ABP) ingestion governance activities.
  • Execute input data validation, cleansing, and Tracker PRO uploads on a monthly basis.
  • Assess upstream and downstream process impacts and collaborate with business partners including Global Servicing Teams, Global Supply Management (GSM), Controllership, and Technology teams.
  • Prepare working files and supporting documentation for Final Due Diligence and sanctions screening processes.
  • Manage internal and external customer inquiries, conduct transaction research in Tracker PRO, and ensure timely responses and system updates.
  • Administer customer claims, including receipt, Tracker PRO updates, and submission of payment files to GSM Payments or Check Remediation teams.
  • Prepare and support Abandoned Property (Escheatment) reporting and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls, governance requirements, and regulatory obligations.
Qualifications
