Job summary

American Express Bengaluru is seeking a Commerce graduate with 4-5 years of fixed assets accounting, reconciliation and reporting experience to manage capitalization, transfers and disposals. You will maintain the fixed assets register, support quarterly cash flow reporting and assist with SOX controls and audits.

Collaborate with GREWE, Technology, Market Controllership and Balance Sheet Assurance teams to deliver accurate reporting and continuous improvements through automation and process

Qualifications

  • Commerce Graduate with 4-5 years of accounting, reconciliation and reporting experience.
  • CA or MBA from reputed institutions preferred.
  • Experience with automation and process transformation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Global Fixed Assets accounting including capitalization, transfer, disposal and construction-in-progress.
  • Prepare fixed assets register and quarterly cash flow reporting.
  • Ensure SOX controls and balance sheet audits are compliant.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across GREWE, Technology and Controllership teams.

Function Description: Fixed Assets – Accounting & Reporting

Function Description: Fixed Assets – Accounting & Reporting Fixed Assets Team is part of Financial Accounting & Close within Global Financial Operations which manages $20Bn Gross Block and $7M Net Block of American Express fixed assets.

Responsibilities

Purpose of the Role: The primary purpose of this role includes managing Global Fixed Assets accounting – capitalization, transfer, disposal, construction-in-progress, reporting – fixed assets register, quarterly cash flow reporting, controls &compliance – SOX review, Legal entity audits. There will be 1 or 2 colleagues reporting to this person. The incumbent will work closely with business stakeholders –GREWE, Technology, Market Controllership, Control management and Balance Sheet Assurance teams.

  • The incumbent will ensure that integrity, control and optimal functionality is maintained to ensure consistent delivery of accounting, reconciliation, reporting and controls & compliance.
  • The incumbent shall ensure compliance with all prevalent policies and procedures linked to the area and processes assigned to him / her.
  • Provide leadership to direct report(s), coach, develop and motivate them.
  • Independently research and provide solutions and support for resolution of issues and queries.
  • The incumbent must be able to work with, communicate and influence all levels of management and be self-driven with minimal supervision.
  • Contribute toward process improvements through ongoing review of processes / opportunities for automation, enhanced reporting.

  • Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously & prioritize accordingly
  • Should possess good analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Gen AI tools and their applicability
Qualifications
  • Commerce Graduate with 4-5 years of experience in accounting, reconciliation, reporting and controls & compliance. Qualified chartered accountants (CAs)/MBAs from reputed institutions are preferred.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvements
  • Good awareness of system-based accounting
  • Should possess good experience of automating manual processes and process transformation
  • High proficiency in MS-Office applications, Essbase/analytical software
  • Change and project management exposure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A fast/keen learner with the ability to learn a detailed process quickly
  • Ability to share technical knowledge and proactively encourage others to do the same.
  • Knowledge of Platforms: Oracle Applications/Oracle Analytical Server (OAS)/Oracle Cloud
