Job summary

The Corporate Institute in Bangalore seeks an experienced Finance Controller to lead the Finance & Accounting function for an education/EdTech organisation. The role owns accounting, financial controls, budgeting, treasury, compliance, reporting and finance-system integration across the business.

Responsibilities include leading P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, audits and regulatory compliance, while driving automation of banking and ERP interfaces and building a strong finance team with a culture

Qualifications

• CA is mandatory and 15+ years of Finance & Accounting experience.
• Experience in Education/EdTech sector preferred.
• Hands-on with accounting, budgeting, treasury, tax, audits and ERP.

Responsibilities

• Lead Accounting, Budgeting, Financial Reporting, Controls and MIS including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
• Develop annual budgets and forecasts; optimise revenue, costs and working capital.
• Oversee banking, treasury, cash flow management and ERP integrations.
• Drive automation of banking transactions and fee collection within ERP/CRM integrations.
• Lead ERP implementation/integration across multiple platforms (Student ERP, Tally, Zoho Books).
• Ensure timely statutory reporting, audits and regulatory compliance.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to management and Board.
• Mentor and develop the finance team, and manage key stakeholder relationships.

Finance Controller – Education / EdTech

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Controller to lead the Finance & Accounting function for an education/EdTech organisation. The role will own accounting, financial controls, budgeting, treasury, compliance, reporting and finance-system integration across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Accounting, Budgeting, Financial Reporting, Controls and MIS with ownership of P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
• Develop annual budgets, forecasts and financial strategies to optimise revenue, costs, working capital and asset utilisation.
• Oversee banking and treasury operations, cash flow and working-capital management.
• Drive automation and integration of banking transactions with the ERP/accounting systems.
• Design and implement fee collection processes and financial controls within the ERP environment, including integration with CRM, payment gateways and financing partners.
• Lead finance-system implementation/integration across Student ERP, Tally, Zoho Books and other academic/education ERP platforms.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial statements, management reports and statutory reporting.
• Coordinate statutory, internal and financial audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, accounting standards and regulatory requirements, with specific understanding of the education sector.
• Identify financial and operational risks and implement appropriate internal controls and mitigation measures.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to the management, executive leadership and Board for business decisions.
• Manage relationships with banks, auditors, vendors, School Heads and internal stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance/accounting team while maintaining a culture of integrity, humility and service orientation.

Must-Have Profile:

• CA – mandatory.
• 15+ years of experience across Finance & Accounting.
• Relevant exp in Education / EdTech.
• Strong hands-on experience in:

• Experience implementing fee collection/fee accounting processes in an ERP, preferably with CRM + payment gateway + financing partner integrations.
• Strong understanding of education-sector finance processes.
• Advanced MS Excel skills and familiarity with Tally, Zoho Books, Student ERP and/or Academic ERP solutions.
• Strong analytical, stakeholder-management and team-leadership skills.
