Job summary

Biofuelcircle invites a Chartered Accountant to lead the accounting function across joint ventures and subsidiaries. You will own books of accounts, ensure accurate postings, and maintain the general ledger and COA, while ensuring compliance with AS, Companies Act 2013 and internal policies.

Responsibilities include end-to-end monthly, quarterly and annual closures, preparation of standalone financial statements, extensive reconciliations, documentation, and audit support.

Qualifications

  • CA Intermediate (Both Groups) cleared and articleship completed with exposure to statutory audit, financial accounting and financial statement preparation.
  • 2 years post-articleship experience in financial accounting, statutory audit or books closure.

Responsibilities

  • Own the books of accounts for assigned Joint Ventures and Subsidiaries, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
  • Maintain the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts, with proper accounting of income, expenditure, assets, liabilities and equity.
  • Review entries for correctness and ensure compliance with applicable standards and Companies Act 2013.
  • Own end-to-end monthly, quarterly and annual books closure with detailed checklists and timely accruals, depreciation, and adjustment entries.
  • Prepare standalone financial statements including Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow, notes and schedules as per Schedule III.
  • Perform comprehensive ledger scrutiny and reconciliations: bank, vendor, customer, inter-company; maintain fixed asset registers; GST/TDS reconciliations.
  • Maintain documentation and working papers; ensure audit-ready records and version-controlled files; support internal controls.
  • Coordinate with auditors and ensure timely responses to audit queries; support statutory filings from accounting perspective.

Education

CA Intermediate (Both Groups) cleared.
Articleship completed with CA firm exposure to statutory audit, financial accounting & financial statement preparation

Job description

Role & Responsibilities
1. Ownership of Books of Accounts
  • Take complete ownership of the books of accounts for assigned Joint Ventures and Subsidiaries.
  • Ensure all accounting transactions are recorded accurately, completely and within prescribed timelines.
  • Maintain the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts.
  • Ensure proper accounting and classification of income, expenditure, assets, liabilities and equity.
  • Review accounting entries for correctness, accounting treatment and ledger mapping.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Accounting Standards, the Companies Act, 2013 and internal accounting policies.
  • Identify, investigate and rectify accounting errors on a timely basis.
  • Maintain complete and audit-ready books of accounts throughout the financial year.
2. Monthly, Quarterly & Annual Books Closure
  • Own the end-to-end monthly, quarterly and annual books closure process.
  • Prepare and execute detailed closure checklists for each reporting period.
  • Ensure timely accounting of accruals, provisions, depreciation, amortization, prepaid expenses and all adjustment entries.
  • Review all General Ledger accounts before closure to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to obtain pending accounting information within defined timelines.
  • Ensure all accounting entries are supported by appropriate documentation prior to closure.
  • Drive continuous improvement in books closure timelines and accuracy.
  • Ensure assigned entities remain audit-ready throughout the year.
3. Financial Statement Preparation
  • Prepare standalone financial statements in accordance with Division I of Schedule III of the Companies Act, 2013.
  • Prepare:
    • Balance Sheet
    • Statement of Profit & Loss
    • Cash Flow Statement
    • Notes to Accounts
    • Supporting schedules and disclosures
  • Prepare detailed Balance Sheet schedules supporting every reported balance.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Accounting Standards and statutory disclosure requirements.
  • Maintain detailed working papers supporting all financial statement disclosures.
4. Ledger Scrutiny & Reconciliations
  • Perform comprehensive scrutiny of General Ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and maintain Balance Sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Perform Bank Reconciliations.
  • Perform Vendor Reconciliations.
  • Perform Customer Reconciliations.
  • Perform Inter-company Reconciliations.
  • Prepare Fixed Asset Registers and reconciliations.
  • Prepare GST, TDS and other statutory reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve unreconciled balances and accounting discrepancies.
  • Ensure every Balance Sheet account is fully substantiated with supporting documentation.
5. Documentation & Working Papers
  • Maintain complete documentation supporting every accounting transaction.
  • Ensure proper filing of invoices, agreements, approvals, journal vouchers and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare standardized monthly working papers supporting books closure.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation throughout the financial year.
  • Ensure proper version control and organization of accounting files.
  • Develop and maintain accounting SOPs, checklists and process documentation.
  • Strengthen documentation standards across the accounting function.
6. Audit & Statutory Compliance
  • Coordinate with Statutory Auditors, Internal Auditors and Tax Auditors.
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents.
  • Resolve audit queries within agreed timelines.
  • Ensure books and documentation are readily available for audits.
  • Support preparation of statutory filings from an accounting perspective.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory accounting requirements and internal financial controls.
7. Process Improvement & Internal Controls
  • Continuously improve accounting processes and month-end closure procedures.
  • Recommend automation and standardization opportunities.
  • Strengthen accounting controls and documentation practices.
  • Ensure adherence to internal accounting policies and SOPs.
  • Identify process gaps and implement corrective actions.Contribute towards improving the efficiency and quality of the accounting function.

Preferred candidate profile

Essential
  • CA Intermediate (Both Groups) cleared.
  • Completed Articleship under a Chartered Accountant firm with significant exposure to statutory audit, financial accounting and financial statement preparation.

Preferred
  • 2 years of post-articleship experience in financial accounting, statutory audit or books closure.
  • Experience in preparing standalone financial statements under Schedule III.
