Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience with teaching or curriculum design in higher education is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Teach core robotics and software engineering topics for the Track.
  • Define curriculum direction and build the Track team.
  • Coordinate lab sessions and project-based learning across courses.
  • Mentor capstone and thesis work in robotics and autonomy.

About Position

Track | Robotics & Mechatronics

Someone oncetaught you why a linked list beats an array in certain conditions, andsomething clicked. That moment of clarity, when the why behind the code finallylands, is exactly what we are trying to create at scale for every student whowalks through our doors. We need the person who can make that happen.

You will join Rishihoodas a Faculty with full teaching ownership of the Core Software Engineeringtrack. This is the bedrock of the programme. As you grow, you will take onTrack Lead responsibilities: defining curriculum direction, building thefaculty team, and connecting with industry to bring real problems into theclassroom. You will not be executing someone else's vision. You will bebuilding your own.

KeyResponsibilities
  • Teachkinematics, dynamics, and control theory, going deep on the why and notjust the what
  • Designand lead lab sessions where students implement forward and inversekinematics, tune controllers, and build working robotic systems from theground up
  • Bridgetheory and practice: connect Lie group formulations to ROSimplementations, screw theory to physical manipulator behaviour
  • Runstructured project critiques and demo days that build honest engineeringjudgment
  • Mentorstudents on capstone and thesis work in robotics, autonomous systems, ormechatronics
  • Ownthe Robotics curriculum as Track Lead, hire junior faculty, and set theacademic standard for this track
  • Workclosely with the Lab Lead to ensure laboratory infrastructure, roboticplatforms, and practical sessions are tightly integrated with theoryinstruction
Job Specifications

You should hold an PhD or MTech (or equivalent inRobotics, Mechatronics, or Control Engineering), or equivalent in a relevantfield. Beyond the degree, here is what we care about.

Technical Depth
  • Expertcommand of core robotics theory: forward and inverse kinematics,Denavit-Hartenberg parameters, Jacobian analysis, and workspacecharacterisation
  • Deepfluency in dynamics: Newton-Euler and Lagrangian formulations for roboticmanipulators, and how these translate to real hardware behavior
  • Stronggrounding in control systems: PID, computed torque, state-space methods,and at least one advanced approach such as sliding mode, MPC, or impedancecontrol
  • Workingknowledge of modern robotics formulation: screw theory, product ofexponentials, and Lie group representations (SO(3), SE(3))
  • Familiaritywith probabilistic robotics and autonomous systems: SLAM, Bayesianestimation, sensor fusion, and motion planning algorithms
  • Hands-onexperience with robotic platforms, sensors, actuators, and embeddedsystems; comfort with ROS, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent practicalenvironments
The Person
  • Youtreat teaching as a craft, take ownership proactively, and are comfortablewith structured critique of your students' work and your own
  • Youcan explain screw theory to a second-year student who has never seen a Liegroup, and make it land
  • Youhave the patience for a student genuinely struggling with the maths, andthe honesty to push the one who is coasting on intuition
  • Youare equally at home with a whiteboard full of derivations and a lab benchfull of wires
Good to Have
  • Familiaritywith the Modern Robotics textbook (Lynch & Park) or equivalentgraduate-level treatment
  • Backgroundin parallel robots, cable-driven systems, compliant mechanisms, or softrobotics
  • Experiencewith computer vision in robotics: epipolar geometry, visual odometry, orvision-based control
  • Exposureto reinforcement learning or formal methods applied to robotic autonomy
  • Academicwriting, course material development, or research publication track record
  • Industryexperience with robotic systems integration, automation, or autonomousvehicles
