Job summary

Digital Edge Data Center in India seeks an experienced BMS Specialist to lead Building Management System standards, network monitoring, controls, and Data Centre PUE calculations to optimize global operations. This role provides BMS support to the Country Operations team and will be based in India.

You will participate in design, construction and commissioning of new datacenters’ BMS, manage BMS point lists, review drawings and develop maintenance scopes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Data Centre operations.
• Knowledge of Data centre infrastructure facilities equivalent to CDCP or CDFOM.
• Extensive knowledge of controls engineering / BMS systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, construct and commission BMS for new datacenter projects.
• Review and manage BMS point lists for Electrical, Mechanical, Fire Protection and Control systems.
• Interpret drawings, plans, specifications and other BMS/Control project documents.
• Familiar with heating/cooling load calculations and PUE computations.
• Develop BMS operational maintenance scope.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex BMS/Controls issues.
• Automate BMS data uploads to reporting systems for alerts.
• Collaborate with DC operations, Engineering and Construction teams.

What we need:

Reporting to Facility Manager (India), the role will develop the standard for Building Management System (BMS), network monitoring, controls and Data Centre PUE calculation to optimise the data centre operations and facilities management globally. This role will provide BMS support services to the DE Country Operations team. This role will be based in India.

Key responsibilities:

• Participate in the design, construction and commissioning phases for new datacenter’s BMS.


• Review and manage all BMS point list for Electrical, Mechanical, Fire Protection and Control systems.


• Able to understand and assess drawings, plans, specifications and other documents relating to BMS / Control Projects.


• Familiar with standard calculation heating/cooling load and Data Center PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) calculation.


• Develop BMS operational maintenance work scope.


• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in BMS / Controls.


• Automate BMS data upload to Digital Edge Platform Reporting System to prioritise and group critical Infrastructure alerts and send to Regional Operations Center.


• Familiar with Network configuration, troubleshooting and industrial communication protocols, like BACnet, Modbus, OPC or SNMP.


• Work with multiple internal teams (DC operations, Engineering, Construction etc.) and be a good team player.


• Recommend BMS replacement strategy (if required) and implementation approach with no or minimal disruption to infrastructure alarms monitoring.


• Perform preliminary energy audits and analysis on data of major consuming equipment or system; and provide recommendations on potential energy conservation measures, opportunities and financial assessments on an annual basis.


• Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience working in the Data Centre operations / support.


• Knowledge of Date center infrastructure facilities equivalent to CDCP or CDFOM.


• Extensive knowledge of multiple facets of controls engineering / BMS systems.


• Have relevant work experience in data center operations, BMS monitoring of infrastructure and alarms generation.


• Good communication, interpersonal skills and ability to manage cross-cultural environment/ language barriers.


• Self-motivated, independent, positive, and able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.


• Able to lead internal and/or external discussions with vendors.


• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.


• Experienced in Networking and troubleshooting.


• Ability to respond to issues and provide timely updates and escalations if needed.

• Fluent in oral and written English.
