Job summary

Jobitus is seeking a Fabrication Engineer to lead end-to-end manufacturing of metal structures and components. You will bridge design engineering and production, ensuring projects meet cost, timeline, safety, and quality targets.

You will develop fabrication sequences, BOMs, weld maps, and CAD models, while selecting materials and coordinating with vendors. The role requires shop-floor oversight and strong adherence to ISO 9001 and ASME standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or equivalent diploma with relevant experience.
• 2–6+ years of hands-on fabrication experience in heavy fabrication or structural steel shops.
• Proficiency in CAD/PLM tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and welding processes; knowledge of ISO 9001 and SPC is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop fabrication sequences, BOMs, routers, weld maps and CAD models.
• Select materials (steel, aluminum) based on strength, cost and availability; coordinate with vendors.
• Supervise cutting, bending, fitting and welding on the shop floor to minimize waste.
• Ensure compliance with codes (ASME, AWS, ISO 9001) and perform inspections for quality.
• Apply Lean/Six Sigma principles to reduce lead times and remove bottlenecks.
• Provide technical support to production teams and troubleshoot installations.

Job Summary

The Fabrication Engineer will manage the end-to-end manufacturing and shop-floor assembly of metal structures, pressure equipment, or mechanical parts. This role bridges design engineering and production operations to ensure projects meet cost, timeline, safety, and quality specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Process Planning & Design: Develop fabrication sequences, Bill of Materials (BOMs), routers, weld maps, and 3D/2D CAD models using software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Material & Vendor Management: Select appropriate raw materials (steel, aluminum, alloys) based on strength, cost, and availability, and coordinate with vendors/suppliers.
• Shop-Floor Oversight: Supervise cutting, bending, fitting, and welding operations to minimize distortion, warping, and material waste.
• Quality Control & Compliance: Enforce industry codes (ASME, AWS, ISO 9001), perform dimensional and weld inspections, and resolve non-conformances.
• Continuous Improvement: Apply Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles to reduce manufacturing lead times and eliminate bottlenecks.
• Technical Support: Assist production teams and troubleshoot site installation or assembly issues.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent Diploma with relevant experience).
• Experience: Typically 2 to 6+ years of hands‑on experience in a heavy fabrication, structural steel, or mechanical manufacturing shop.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in CAD/PLM tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Working knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Arc), GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and metal‑working machinery.
