Job summary

Moody’s invites candidates pursuing advanced degrees in Civil/Computer/Urban disciplines to join the Exposure Development team in India. The role focuses on developing stochastic catastrophe models and exposure data for property insurance, combining research, modeling, and open-source data analysis.

You will contribute to model design, validation, and cross-functional collaboration, with opportunities to influence Moody’s product solutions and data ecosystems globally.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree from an accredited university in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Urban Planning, Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to development and enhancement of Moody’s Exposure Models as part of the Exposure Development team based in India.
  • Support the research, design, and implementation of exposure modeling methodologies and solutions.
  • Conduct primary research and analysis to support model development and validation activities.
  • Develop an understanding of technologies, analytical techniques, and methodologies used in Moody’s products and solutions.
  • Research, evaluate, and analyze datasets required for exposure development across global geographies, leveraging public and open-source data where available.
  • Assist in the development of valuation models for a broad range of buildings and infrastructure assets.
  • Research and analyze characteristics of property insurance markets and exposure landscapes across different regions worldwide.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support enhancement of exposure data, analytics, and modeling capabilities.
  • Document research findings, methodologies, and analytical insights to support model development and product innovation.

Skills and Competencies

Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.
Education

About the Team

The Model Development group focuses on developing industry leading stochastic catastrophe models for the quantification and management of catastrophe risk. Within this group, the Exposure Development team focuses on developing data sets of economic and insured property exposures for our natural catastrophe models. Such products are essential not only for the model development process, they also are a key component of the RMS product line and provide a wealth of valuable information for our clients.
