Job summary

Ensono is seeking a Senior System Engineer for Global Middleware operations in Pune. This role focuses on hands-on administration of IBM WebSphere, system configuration automation, and DR planning.

You will work in a team to design configurations, implement automation, and monitor performance to ensure 24x7 reliability. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s (or master’s) degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication.

• Administer applications running on IBM WebSphere with 6+ years of implementation, support and upgrades.
• Install and configure high availability compute solutions for critical functions.
• Manage virtual servers, storage, and operating systems across environments.
• Design and document OS patching, code and firmware updates.
• Contribute to disaster recovery planning and DR design meetings.
• Develop automation and reporting scripts for operations and capacity planning.
• Monitor, tune, and optimize systems to prevent bottlenecks and outages.
• Prepare periodic capacity and utilization reports.

Job Responsibilities:

• Hands on experience on Administering the applications running on IBM WebSphere with at least 6 years of implementation, support, and upgrade.
• Experience in other IBM products would be beneficial.
• Full knowledge to install and configure high availability compute solutions supporting business critical functions.
• Full understanding of virtual servers and operating systems, block, file, and object storage, and data protection.
• Understands how the whole picture aligns to overall Ensono strategy.
• Understanding of multiple scripting languages to develop solutions for automation and reporting.
• Work in a team to design computer system configurations.
• Design and document procedures to apply operating systems patches, code and firmware updates to systems infrastructure.
• Participate in primary design meetings for Client disaster recovery planning.
• Research system vulnerabilities and provide documentation for future use implementing corrective actions as required.
• Develop guidelines and procedures for systems management including process and efficiency improvements.
• Monitor and tune systems to identify and eliminate issues and potential bottlenecks.
• Prepare periodic reports related to capacity and utilization.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 6+ years of related experience; or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, to include resources, priorities, and timelines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Results oriented team player who will work towards meeting team commitments.
• Demonstrated track record of meeting SLAs and production deadlines.

Mandatory Technical Skills:

• Experience with system configuration automation (Scripting with Perl/Python/Bash or DevOps tools like Chef/Puppet).
• Ability to mentor technical operations staff in appropriate technologies, as needed.
• Understanding of the competitive landscape from both business and technical perspective is a plus.
• AWS, Azure and GCP knowledge in designing, provisioning, monitoring and managing the environment is a big plus.
• Experience with DevOps and Agile frameworks is a plus.
