Job summary

Born West is seeking an experienced WordPress Developer to own development, customization, and performance of high-quality WordPress websites. You’ll work closely with designers, product managers, and marketers to build fast, secure, and scalable web experiences.

This role is ideal for someone who understands WordPress deeply—not just themes and plugins, but performance, architecture, and best practices.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of real-world WordPress development experience.
• Experience building custom themes/plugins, not just configuring them.
• Good understanding of how WordPress works internally (hooks, templates, REST API, etc.).
• Comfort with performance tuning and basic security best practices.
• Experience using Git and working in a team environment.
• Ownership mindset and commitment to code quality.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain custom WordPress websites.
• Develop custom themes and plugins when needed.
• Turn Figma designs into responsive, well-structured front-end code.
• Improve performance, security, and reliability of existing sites.
• Debug issues without needing everything spelled out.

• Understanding of SEO and analytics tools like Yoast and GA
• An eye for performance and UX
