Job summary

Voltas is seeking a Quality Engineer to strengthen the quality function on the shop floor, support new product development with production and development teams, and ensure compliance with ISO/QMS standards. The role requires hands-on experience in HVAC/refrigeration domains and strong problem-solving skills.

You will drive root cause analysis, implement preventive actions, and lead Kaizen activities while coordinating with cross-functional teams to maintain process excellence across shifts.

Qualifications

• Diploma or B.E in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
• Engineer 3-5 yrs or Executive 1-3 yrs in manufacturing quality.
• Experience in air conditioning or refrigeration industry with OEMs and ECN exposure.
• Knowledge of SAP-ERP tools and MS Office; SPC and control charts.
• Familiarity with PPAP, Lean Six Sigma, Six Sigma certification.
• Awareness of Quality Management systems and Certifications; cross-functional teamwork; Kaizen; 8D.

Responsibilities

• Establish KPI’s and implement actions to eliminate root causes of quality and delivery problems.
• Engage in New Product development activities with Production and Development teams to maintain quality on shop floor.
• Perform process verifications such as PU foaming, brazing, leak testing, refrigerant charging, electrical safety and cooling tests.
• In-process quality activities: line rejection analysis, root-cause analysis of part failures, daily meetings with production and quality teams, Gemba Kaizen.
• Handle customer complaints, closure, and submission of corrective action plans for process failures.
• Ensure readiness for customer/external visits and update documents/trend charts on the shop floor.
• Prepare for weekly and monthly quality review meetings; monitor trends and generate reports.
• Ensure compliance to established certified systems in respective areas.
• Deploy manpower at key stages to cover product lines across shifts.
• Establish control charts for CTQ/CTP to monitor process trends.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Established key process indicators (KPI’s) and implement preventive and corrective actions to eliminate the root causes of poor quality and delivery problems.
• Engage in New Product development activities, effectively interact with Production and Development teams to maintain the quality standard on shop floor. Day to day Interaction with Technical Support team and Product development team for the development of new product from Production Prototype to Commercialization of the product.
• Critical Process verification and alidation like PU Foaming, Brazing Process, High Pressure Helium Leak Testing, Vacuuming, Refrigerant charging, Electrical safety test and Cooling performance test.
• Routine activities of Inprocess quality like line rejection analysis, Supplier rejection verification root cause analysis of part failure, daily meeting with production and quality team on daily performance, Gemba activities for process/5S/Kaizen.
• Customer Compliant handling, closure, and submission of corrective action plan for Process Failure and Customer Complaints.
• Ensure maintain readiness for any Customer/external visits at all times and updation of documents/Trend Charts as displayed on shopfloor.
• Prepare for Weekly and Monthly Quality review meeting , Monitor trend/performance by gathering relevant data and produce statistical reports.
• Ensure compliance to established Certified systems in respective areas.
• Ensure deployment of manpower/associates at key stages to ensure coverage across Product Lines/stages during shifts of working.
• Establish Performance trend indicators/control charts for key CTQ'/CTP's for monitoring.

Requirements

• Diploma or B.E(Mechanical, Electrical)
• Engineer -3-5 yrs/Executive-1-3 years
• Worked previously in Air Conditioning or Refrigeration Industry in similar setup/Product lines with OEM's and exposure to New Product development activity and ECN implementation.

• Products, Key Processes in Manufacturing, Awareness of Quality Management systems and Certifications, Manpower handling,Problem solving tools(7 QC tools), RCA approach and Cross functional team work ,Kaizen, 8D approach ,Knowledge of SAP-ERP tools and MS Office, Knoweldge of SPC tools and Implementation of Control Charts for Process trend monitoring.
• PPAP, Lean Six sigma methodology, FMEA ,Poka Yoke etc. Certified Lead auditor for IMS-ISO Certifications., Six Sigma certification
