Job summary

Kennametal in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced technician for Assembly, Commissioning, and Shop Floor operations. You will handle project scheduling, materials management, electrical assemblies, and vendor commissioning, ensuring timely, high-quality outcomes.

Role requires collaboration with procurement, cross-functional teams, and a focus on safety, process improvements, and on-time delivery. SAP experience is advantageous, along with strong problem-solving and field service skills.

Qualifications

• Read OHDs, create project schedules and electrical extracts.
• Release electrical material with SAP process awareness (advantage).
• Coordinate material handling and ensure availability for production.

Responsibilities

• Project scheduling and release control for electrical materials.
• Inventory control and material availability planning.
• Coordinate with procurement to prevent shortages and track delivery schedules.
• Execute machine electrical assemblies per drawings and schematics.
• Manage vendor site commissioning and verification testing.
• Verify electrical wiring, control panels, and safety circuits prior to deployment.
• Troubleshoot CNC/PLC issues; conduct field service visits and RCA documentation.

Assembly & Commissioning

• Project scheduling and Releases control: Read OHD's, create Project schedule, and electrical extract, release all the project electrical material (understanding of SAP process will be added advantage)
• Material Handling & Management:
  • Inventory Control: Supervise the movement, storage, and accounting of electrical components and assembly materials.
  • Supply Chain Alignment: Coordinate with the procurement team to prevent component shortages and track delivery schedules.
  • Resource Optimization: Minimize waste, protect sensitive electronic inventory, and ensure material availability for production runs.
• Machine Electrical Assembly: Execute complex electrical assemblies following engineering drawings and schematics.
• Vendor Site Commissioning: Manage and execute machine switch-on protocols and verification testing at vendor locations.
• Quality Assurance: Verify electrical wiring accuracy, control panel layouts, and critical safety circuits prior to operational deployment.

Shop Floor & Operations

• Shop Floor Management: Supervise daily shop floor activities to ensure production targets and timelines are met.
• Machine Dispatch Activities: Supervise the dispatch activities like machine backup, spare handling, Interlock Check, Checklist filling.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce rigorous safety protocols and 5S standards across the manufacturing and assembly floor.
• Process Optimization: Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and optimize operational workflow efficiency.

Troubleshooting & Service

• Diagnostic & Resolution: Systematically diagnose CNC/PLC software bugs and resolve unexpected electrical or mechanical breakdowns.
• Customer Site Support: Conduct scheduled and emergency customer site visits to resolve complex field service issues.
• Root-Cause Analysis: Provide detailed technical support and root-cause analysis documentation for system or component failures. Understanding of RCA techniques will be add advantage.
