Job summary

Udhyam Learning Foundation seeks a Field Operations Executive to implement Maadhyam in government schools across Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar and Pauri. You will visit schools, engage with district education officials, principals and teachers, and build partnerships to expand opportunities for students.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree; 3–4 years’ experience with students; proficiency in Gmail, Excel, PPT, Google Docs; fluent Hindi; willing to travel across Uttarakhand. Commitment: 6 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any field.
• 3–4 years’ work experience with students and schools, esp govt schools, is preferable.
• Gmail, Excel, PPT and Google Docs proficiency.
• Multitasking and problem solving skills.
• Comfort and efficiency of communication with government teachers and principals.
• Hindi speaking and reading proficiency is required; English/other languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Visiting each assigned school at least three times a month.
• Establishing rapport with school principals and teachers and maintaining communication.
• Liaising with District Education Department officers and seeking approvals.
• Organising and conducting in-school events related to opportunities.
• Monitoring implementation status, data collection, and reporting.

Program Overview:

Maadhyamis Udhyam’s novel initiative that aims to bridge the gap between government school students in Grades 9 to 12 and opportunities beyond the classroom. The program envisions building awareness among students from Tier 2 & 3 cities of India about different types of opportunities and how they can support in building a student’s future. On the supply side, the program undertakes the groundwork of vetting and onboarding partner organisations, and curating and listing relevant opportunities on a student accessible platform, actively matching students with those best suited to their interests and needs for building a credible and desired future.

It is currently live across 2 states (Haryana and Uttarakhand), embedded within state government school systems. In its first 3 months, it reached over 4,500 students and generated 14 offers. Our core work is to improve access to opportunities for students with limited or insufficient guidance, knowledge and confidence in accessing them.

What we are Looking for:

You will be the foundation of the program on ground in the assigned government run schools in your district. As a Field Operations Executive you will work closely with District education department officials, school principals, teachers and the Udhyam team. The effectiveness of the program implementation in your district will heavily rely on you and the processes you build and the relations you nurture. The role involves the majority of field work (visiting schools and government offices) and in order to take the Maadhyam meaning and goals far and wide.

By working with students and teachers, you will directly help improve the way young people build and realise their careers which are income generating and stable. This means you are contributing to their future success and creating positive change in the education system.

Roles and Responsibilities:

School Liasoning

• Visiting each assigned school atleast three times in a month.
• Establishing and maintaining good rapport with the school principals and teachers.
• Developing a continuous communication channel with school beyond visits.
• Solutioning when things don’t go as planned or schools struggle with time or delayed approvals.

District Education Department Liasoning

• Frequently meeting District officers and keeping them aware of the activities being done in schools.
• Writing letters seeking department approvals.
• Drafting reports covering activities in schools and showcasing the progress.

Program Implementation

• Organising and conducting in-school events related to an opportunity,
• Learning about the opportunity completely to problem solve for schools.
• Encouraging students and tracking individual school and student progress in your district.
• Conducting regular problem solving, discussion, encouragement sessions within school.

Monitoring and Documentation

• Conducting need assessment with students, teachers and parents to form deeper understanding.
• Monitoring opportunity implementation status through data collection, field visits, phone calls, forms, whatsapp communication.
• Recording and documenting all raw data as well as collected insights.
• Creating and presenting frequent reports on the progress in the district.

Skills, Experience and Mindsets:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in any field.
2. 3-4 years’ work experience with students and schools, esp govt schools, is preferable.
3. Working knowledge of Gmail, Excel, PPT and Google Docs.
4. Multitasking and problem solving skills.
5. Comfort and efficiency of communication for interacting with government teachers and principals.
6. Spoken and reading Hindi proficiency is a must. Working knowledge of English and any local language is good to have.
7. Openness to uncertainties and challenges which may arise during the project implementation.
8. The role requires travel primarily across the assigned district, and elsewhere within Uttarakhand.

Commitment: 6 Months initially (It shall be extended based on program structuring and performance)
