Job summary

Chola seeks an Advocate/Legal Officer to manage Motor Third-Party (TP) claims and MACT matters in a general insurance context. The role involves representing the company in MACT and other legal forums, drafting documents, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

The candidate should have LL.B. with Bar Council enrollment and 1–2 years of relevant insurance litigation experience. Travel is integral to this role, with a department focus in Claims Legal.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Handle Motor TP claim litigation and MACT matters, representing the company.
• Draft and review statements, notices, affidavits, petitions, replies; attend court hearings.
• Coordinate with panel advocates, TPAs, surveyors, investigators, police, hospitals, and claims teams.
• Provide legal opinions on liability, recoveries, and settlements; monitor case progress and timelines.
• Maintain accurate case records and legal MIS; ensure compliance with relevant acts and IRDAI regulations.
• Travel extensively for court appearances, meetings, investigations, and claim-related activities.

we are looking for a qualified Advocate/Legal Officer to handle legal matters related to Motor Third-Party (TP) Claims in General Insurance. The role involves representing the company before Motor Accident Claims Tribunals (MACT) and other legal forums like CDRC,SCDRC, Ombudsman , and WCC court , coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring timely resolution of legal claim cases. Travel is an integral part of this role.

Location: Trivandrum, cochin, chennai, pondycherry, coimbatore, madurai, trichy

CTC: Up to INR 5.5.00 LPA

Key Responsibilities

• Handle Motor Third-Party (TP) claim litigation and other legal claim matters. Represent the company before MACT, courts, and other legal authorities.
• Draft and review written statements, legal notices, affidavits, petitions, replies, and other legal documents. Attend court hearings and ensure timely filing and follow-up of legal cases.
• Coordinate with panel advocates, TPAs, surveyors, investigators, police authorities, hospitals, and internal claims teams.
• Provide legal opinions on claim liability, recoveries, and settlement matters. Monitor case progress and ensure compliance with legal timelines.
• Maintain accurate case records, legal MIS, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act, IRDAI regulations, and other applicable laws.
• Travel extensively for court appearances, legal meetings, investigations, and claim-related activities.

Eligibility & Experience

• LL.B. (Mandatory) Enrolled with the Bar Council.
• 1-2 years of experience in General Insurance Legal Claims, Motor TP Claims, MACT matters, or insurance litigation.
• Experience in General Insurance, TPA, or a law firm handling insurance claim matters will be preferred.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of the Motor Vehicles Act and MACT proceedings.
• Sound understanding of General Insurance claims and IRDAI regulations.Proficiency in MS Office and legal documentation.
• Excellent legal drafting, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.Ability to coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
