The ePlane Company is seeking an experienced Interior Trim Designer to shape the cabin experience for next‑gen eVTOL aircraft. You will design, model, and integrate lightweight interior components using CATIA and SolidWorks, balancing aesthetics, weight, and manufacturability.
Collaborating with stress, electrical, and industrial design teams, you will deliver airworthy, human-centered interiors while adhering to relevant aerospace standards and DFMA principles.
We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Interior Trim Designer with 3 - 4 years of experience to join our aerospace design team. In this role, you will define the cabin experience for next-generation electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft. You will design, model, and integrate lightweight interior components, cabin trims, seating structures, and surface finishes using CATIA and SolidWorks.
Working at the intersection of aesthetic design, human factors, and lightweight structural engineering, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver human-centred, airworthy interior solutions optimised for safety, weight, noise reduction, and manufacturability.

Create detailed 3D models, surface geometry, and 2D manufacturing drawings for eVTOL cabin components, including wall/ceiling panels, cockpit console trims, seat upholstery integration, floor coverings, overhead bins, and acoustic dampening trims using CATIA and SolidWorks.
Develop innovative design solutions that balance aesthetics and passenger ergonomics while strictly meeting tight weight budgets and cost targets.
Design complex Class-A interior surfaces and ergonomic interfaces tailored for urban air mobility (UAM) passenger comfort and driver/pilot usability.
Prepare engineering drawings, detailed Bills of Materials (BOM), surface layout specifications, and installation instructions in compliance with GD&T standards and aerospace quality management systems (e.g., AS9100).
Ensure interior materials and trim assemblies meet regulatory flammability, toxicity, smoke emission, and crashworthiness requirements (e.g., FAA FAR Part 23/27/29 standards and EASA SC-VTOL criteria).
Collaborate closely with stress analysis, human factors, electrical systems (cabin lighting, HVAC ducting, and displays), and industrial design teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Partner with suppliers and manufacturing engineers to apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles, prioritising rapid modular maintenance and lightweight construction.
Participate in formal design reviews (PDR/CDR), risk assessments (FMEA), and thermal/acoustic packaging trade studies.
Support physical cabin mockup builds, human factors evaluations (reach, ingress/egress, sightlines), and prototype fabrication.
Support material testing (flammability, tensile, acoustic, vibration) and iterate interior trim designs based on physical test results and user experience feedback.
Research lightweight, sustainable, and eco-friendly interior materials (e.g., bio-based composites, advanced thermoplastic trims, recyclable fabrics).
Drive continuous process improvements in CAD surface modeling workflows and cabin interior design standards.
