Job summary

Medpace is seeking a full-time, office-based Software QA Test Engineer (Validation Engineer) to join our IT team in Mumbai. You will design and execute test plans for ETL pipelines, validate data across stages, and develop SQL checks to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

You will collaborate with Data Engineers, BI Developers, and Analysts, perform defect tracking, and ensure quality standards for new data pipelines and reports in a regulated healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• 1–2 years in ETL, data warehouse, or data migration testing preferred.
• Solid understanding of software testing fundamentals and lifecycle.
• Experience designing and executing SQL queries for backend validation with DB tools.

Job Description:

Medpace is growing rapidly, and we are currently seeking a full-time, office-based Software QA Test Engineer (Validation Engineer) to join our growing Information Technology (IT) team in Mumbai office.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, and test cases for ETL pipelines, backend database changes, data warehouse objects, and reporting solutions.
• Perform end-to-end ETL testing by validating source-to-target data across different stages of the data pipeline to ensure data completeness, accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
• Develop and execute complex SQL and Snowflake queries to perform data validation, reconciliation, data profiling, and root-cause analysis of data discrepancies.
• Validate database changes, including schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, indexes, and other database objects, for functional correctness and potential performance impact.
• Validate data warehouse dimensional models, including fact tables, dimension tables, and Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), against business and technical requirements.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and data integrity testing following ETL code changes, source-system updates, database changes, or schema modifications.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects using a bug-tracking system, working closely with developers and data engineers to investigate issues, validate fixes, and perform retesting.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, BI Developers, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to define acceptance criteria, testing requirements, and quality standards for new data pipelines, data models, and reports.
• Develop and maintain reusable SQL queries, test scripts, test data sets, reconciliation checks, and automated data validation frameworks to improve testing efficiency, coverage, and repeatability.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science background or related background
• 1-2 years of experience in ETL, data warehouse or data migration testing;
• Strong understanding of software testing fundamentals and the testing lifecycle;
• Experience in design and executing SQL queries for database/backend validation using database tools like Casandra/ MSSQL/ Mongo DB/Studio 3T;
• Experience communicating and working within cross-departmental teams consisting of software developers, department leads, and end users;
• Excellent computer, analytical, written and oral communication skills; and
• Experience in the regulated healthcare industry is a plus.
