Job summary

Bootminds in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India is seeking an ETL Tester to contribute to test strategy development and execute testing across large-scale systems.

The role requires hands-on ETL testing, strong SQL, experience with test management tools, and collaboration with Analysts, Developers, and QA teams to ensure quality and traceability from requirements to test cases. You will mentor junior testers and may lead projects when required.

Qualifications

• Must have 3-5 years of ETL testing experience.
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills.
• Hands-on experience with test management tools (HP ALM, Synapse RT, Jira).
• Solid understanding of ETL concepts and SDLC/STLC processes.
• Experience with test deliverables like test plans and strategies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Author and refine test cases within a defined testing strategy.
• Develop tests for complex multi-system integrations and coordinate revisions.
• Create and maintain test data and reusable data repositories.
• Execute tests, log defects, and perform re-testing after fixes.
• Conduct peer reviews of test cases for quality and completeness.
• Utilize automated testing tools for planning, management, and defect tracking.
• Review SDLC deliverables to ensure they're testable and traceable.
• Engage in technical discussions with BAs, Developers and stakeholders.
• Ensure traceability between requirements and test cases.
• Contribute to elicitation and documentation of URS/FS for complex apps.
• Participate in project planning and provide effort estimates.
• Communicate project status and risks to SVT leads and management.
• Serve as Test Lead when required and mentor junior staff.

ETL Tester

The ETL Tester will be responsible for testing large-scale computer systems within the scope of a defined testing strategy and contribute to test strategy development for projects and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Author test cases for large-scale computer systems within the scope of a defined testing strategy and contribute to test strategy development for projects and systems.
• Develop test cases for complex multi-system integrations and collaborate with project teams to gather inputs and implement revisions to ensure comprehensive testing coverage.
• Create and maintain test data required for test execution and support reusable test data repositories.
• Execute test cases, identify defects, log issues, and perform re-testing to validate fixes.
• Conduct peer reviews of test cases before and after execution to ensure accuracy, quality, and completeness.
• Utilize automated testing tools for test planning, test management, test case authoring, execution, and defect tracking.
• Review SDLC deliverables produced by IT teams to ensure specifications are complete, detailed, and suitable for test script development.
• Participate in technical discussions with Business Analysts, Developers, and other stakeholders as required.
• Review requirements specifications for testability and ensure traceability between requirements and test cases.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of requirements elicitation, analysis, and specification processes, including User Requirement Specifications (URS) and Functional Specifications (FS) for complex applications.
• Participate in project planning activities and provide effort estimates when required.
• Proactively communicate project status, testing progress, risks, and concerns to senior SVT team members, Project Managers, and management.
• Serve as a Test Lead for projects when required.
• Mentor and support junior team members.

Requirements

• Must Have Skillset:
  • 3-5 years of experience in ETL testing.
  • Good knowledge and experience in SQL (Strong in SQL & PL/SQL).
  • Hands-on experience with test management tools such as HP ALM, Synapse RT, and Jira.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL concepts.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC/STLC processes and testing concepts.
  • Knowledge of test plans, test strategies, and other test deliverable documents.
  • Understanding of the defect life cycle.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
• Good to Have Skillset:
  • Experience with clinical data/clinical domain.
  • Experience working in Agile and Lean SDLC environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Trifacta (Data Wrangling Tool), Denodo, and K2View.
  • Exposure to Big Data tools and applications.
  • Experience with test automation.
