About the Role

xyz is looking for an experienced and result-oriented Estimation Manager Precast to lead estimation, costing, and commercial evaluation for precast construction projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the precast concrete industry, with strong expertise in quantity take-offs, cost estimation, tendering, pricing strategies, and commercial risk assessment.

The role involves close coordination with design, engineering, production, procurement, project execution, and business development teams to ensure accurate, competitive, and commercially viable project estimates.

Key Responsibilities

1. Estimation & Costing

• Lead end-to-end estimation and costing for precast concrete projects, including structural precast elements, wall panels, beams, columns, slabs, and other precast components.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project requirements.
• Conduct quantity take-offs and assess material, labour, equipment, transportation, erection, and installation costs.
• Develop cost models for precast manufacturing, logistics, site installation, and project execution.
• Evaluate project feasibility and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or specifications.

2. Tendering & Commercial Management

• Review tender documents, technical specifications, BOQs, and contractual requirements.
• Prepare competitive bids, commercial proposals, and detailed cost break-ups for projects.
• Analyse tender risks, contractual terms, exclusions, assumptions, and commercial deviations.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders for tender clarifications and negotiations.
• Support the preparation of rate analysis, variation claims, and revised estimates.

3. Precast Technical & Operational Coordination

• Work closely with design and engineering teams to assess drawings, design changes, and their cost implications.
• Coordinate with production and plant teams to establish manufacturing costs, productivity assumptions, and resource requirements.
• Evaluate transportation, lifting, crane deployment, erection methodology, and site logistics costs.
• Monitor cost trends related to concrete, reinforcement steel, embedded items, moulds, and other precast materials.
• Ensure estimates reflect project-specific technical and execution requirements.

4. Team Leadership & Process Improvement

• Lead, mentor, and develop the estimation team.
• Establish standard estimation formats, costing databases, rate libraries, and benchmarking systems.
• Review and validate estimates prepared by team members before submission.
• Drive continuous improvement in estimation accuracy, turnaround time, and cost-control processes.
• Maintain historical project cost data and conduct estimate-versus-actual cost analysis.

5. Stakeholder Management & Reporting

• Collaborate with business development, sales, design, procurement, finance, production, and project management teams.
• Present project cost estimates, pricing recommendations, and commercial risks to senior management.
• Support management in bid/no-bid decisions and pricing strategy.
• Track market trends, competitor pricing benchmarks, and cost movements in the precast construction sector.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
• A postgraduate qualification in Construction Management, Project Management, or Quantity Surveying would be an added advantage.

Experience & Skills Required

• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in estimation, costing, tendering, or commercial management within the construction industry.
• Strong hands-on experience in precast concrete construction and precast project estimation.
• Proven expertise in BOQ preparation, quantity surveying, rate analysis, cost planning, and tender evaluation.
• Sound understanding of precast manufacturing processes, reinforcement detailing, mould requirements, transportation, and erection methodologies.
• Experience in managing large-scale precast or infrastructure/building construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of material costing, labour productivity, equipment costs, and subcontractor pricing.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and estimation software; familiarity with AutoCAD and BIM-based quantity take-offs is desirable.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, team management, and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Excellent commercial awareness and the ability to work under tight tender deadlines.
