Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a senior wastewater process engineer in Bengaluru to lead design and oversight of wastewater treatment systems for complex facilities. You will contribute to process, mechanical and hydraulic design and support construction activities, delivering safe and compliant solutions.

The role requires extensive experience with conventional and advanced treatment technologies, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate with vendors on multi-discipline projects.

Qualifications

• ME or BE in Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering with 12+ years of experience.
• 8–10 years of experience in the process industry or industrial clients.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Independent self-motivated professional.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and technical guidance on wastewater treatment systems design.
• Contribute to process, mechanical and hydraulic design and support construction.
• Develop wastewater treatment plant designs including P&ID and process flow diagrams.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors and assess applicable technology.
• Prepare technical memos and preliminary design reports.
• Develop design drawings and specifications for large multi-discipline projects.

Job Description

Working independently and provides oversight and technical guidance on Wastewater Treatment systems design for wastewater facilities, and engineering designs of moderate to high complexity to meet client project requirements. Serving as process engineer to contribute to process and/or process mechanical and/or hydraulic design and supporting construction of water and wastewater infrastructure. Developing wastewater

treatment plant designs including: developing process flow diagram; influent plant data collection and analysis; performing calculations (Plant water balance, plant loading, treatment unit sizing, aeration requirement related calculation); setting design criteria; coordinating with equipment vendors; assessing technology for project applicable recommendations; write technical memorandum and preliminary design reports; designing

piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID); and developing control descriptions and strategies.

Experience with conventional wastewater treatment and advanced treatment technologies such as membrane filtration, UV disinfection, and advanced oxidation processes.

Experience with aerobic and anaerobic wastewater treatment systems.

Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards related to wastewater treatment.

Having experience in Detailed design of Wastewater treatment plants, calculation of Odor control flowrates/ capacities (preferred)

Development of design drawings and specifications on large, complex, multi-discipline design projects.

Skills & Abilities

Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.

Qualifications

• ME or BE in Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering with 12+ years of Experience (Preferred)
• At least 8 to 10 years of experience in the relevant process industry or industrial clients
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Independent player with high self-motivation

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Chartered Engineering (CEng) License (Preferred)

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate’s salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.

Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
