Enterprise Architect

Location: Hyderabad, India

Join Lonza's Global IT organization as an Enterprise Architect, where you will play a key role in shaping and governing the technology landscape that supports Lonza's global business and digital transformation ambitions. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with business leaders, IT stakeholders, delivery teams, and executives to define enterprise architecture standards, guide strategic technology decisions, and ensure solutions are aligned with business objectives, architectural principles, and long-term technology roadmaps.

This is an office-first role. Working together in person supports close, real-time collaboration and team alignment, enabling us to deliver our best work. You will work primarily in the office, with the flexibility to work remotely for 20% of your time (one day per week).

What you will do
  • Define, implement, and maintain the Enterprise Architecture framework, processes, standards, and governance practices across the organization.
  • Drive the development and continuous improvement of business capability models, application portfolios, technology platforms, integration landscapes, and architecture standards.
  • Manage Enterprise Architecture deliverables, including architecture reviews, governance assessments, project evaluations, and Software Review Board reporting.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise-wide architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps.
  • Standardize and govern applications, integrations, infrastructure, and security capabilities to ensure scalable, reliable, and sustainable technology solutions.
  • Review and support solution designs for IT programs and projects to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards and strategic objectives.
  • Evaluate business requirements and translate them into architecture recommendations that balance business needs, technology capabilities, risk, and long-term sustainability.
  • Provide architecture leadership for complex business transformation, application modernization, data, integration, and digital initiatives.
  • Define cross-functional architecture strategies and guide technology decision-making across multiple programs and projects.
  • Collaborate with Business Capability Councils, Business Partners, IT Site Leads, Centers of Excellence, delivery teams, and project stakeholders to align business and technology priorities.
  • Communicate architecture strategies, concepts, and roadmaps to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and education on Enterprise Architecture principles, practices, and standards across the organization.
  • Conduct Enterprise Architecture assessments and reviews to ensure compliance with established architecture principles and governance requirements.
  • Ensure all technology programs and projects adhere to approved enterprise architecture standards, principles, security requirements, and strategic direction.
  • Support governance activities through architecture reviews, exception management, risk assessments, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to strategic technology planning by evaluating emerging technologies, industry trends, and opportunities for innovation.
What we are looking for
  • Proven experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, or related strategic technology leadership roles within complex global organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks, methodologies, governance models, and best practices.
  • Experience developing and managing business capability models, application portfolios, technology roadmaps, and architecture standards.
  • Strong understanding of application architecture, integration architecture, data architecture, cloud technologies, infrastructure, and security principles.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and governing solution designs across multiple projects, programs, and technology domains.
  • Experience translating business strategies and requirements into scalable and sustainable technology solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence business leaders, executives, and technical teams.
  • Experience leading architecture assessments, governance reviews, standards management, and compliance activities.
  • Knowledge of digital transformation, application modernization, enterprise integration, and platform strategies.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex architectural concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working within regulated industries, manufacturing, life sciences, or global enterprise environments is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Enterprise Architecture certifications such as TOGAF or equivalent are preferred.
