Job summary

HSBC Software Development India seeks an experienced Associate Director, Tech SME to drive end-to-end project delivery across enterprise applications. You will lead system design, build, testing, and deployment while coordinating with program managers and senior stakeholders.

Expertise in Java 8+, Spring Boot, microservices, REST, and cloud technologies is required. Knowledge of AI-enabled automation and messaging systems like IBM MQ will be advantageous.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT experience in coding, design and building an Enterprise application.
• 5-8 years of development experience in financial sector; 5-8 years Core Java with Spring Boot.
• Minimum 3 years of software architecture and design experience.
• Experience with AI tools (Claude, Agentic AI) and building AI Agents for productivity.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end project delivery from requirements to deployment.
• Engage with Program Manager on schedule, estimates, costs, RAID items, risks.
• Review deliverables and status, communicate with senior stakeholders.
• Manage project risk, create unit test schedules and mitigate issues.
• Maintain green development status, quality audits, and downstream transitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Tech SME

In This Role You Will

• Manage the end to end Project delivery including defining the requirements,create system design, getting build done, making sure testing is properly done and then deployed successfully.
• Engage with Program Manager with respect to project schedule, estimates, costs, RAID items, roadblocks, etc. Organize and manage the project kick-off meetings.
• Review the project deliverables and status on the regular intervals and ensure smooth deliveries. Participate in regular meetings with higher management to communicate accomplishments, plans and issues as well as any risks to the project's progress
• Manage Project Risk and acts for a mitigation plan. Develop and maintain Unit Test schedules, track and manage project risks till closure
• Maintain the project development status always in green, experienced in project quality audits. Manage Transition in a downstream environment. Provide Weekly and Project Closure Reports and thresholds. Build solid relationships within IT team, up and down stream dependent IT teams, and, Business, senior stakeholders in all involved parties
• Manage and maintain clear understanding across all interested parties the status of the project, the key decisions to maintain momentum. Ability to propose program solutions and negotiate with delivery teams and stakeholders to prioritise effectively. Maintain Platform Resillience by managing all the Vulnarabilities and also meet all the KCIs defined.Continuous Improvement / Innovate: quickly assimilate and learn from the experiences and apply these learnings to improve future delivery effort
• Producing necessary Development Plans, Design documents, Schedules and Tracking and other required supporting documentation

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements

• 10+ years of IT experience in Coding, Design and building an Enterprise application (essential)
• 5-8 years’ Development experience in Financial sector (essential) 5-8 years Core Java experience, Springboot (essential)
• Minimum 3 years of software architecture and design experience (essential)
• Experience with AI tools (Claude, Agentic AI), prompt engineering, and building AI Agents - with the ability to leverage AI to enhance productivity and delivery outcomes
• Expertise in skills Java 8+, Spring/Spring Boot/Spring Cloud Technologies, Understanding of the Reactive programming paradigm,microservices,JMS(IBM MQ/Active MQ),REST,MSSQL Server/Oracle database,Devops,Docker or PODMAN, Cloud Technologies like GCP or AWS will be added advantage, Shell scripting, Basic knowledge of Python would be good, Operations workflows (desirable)
• Experience of workflow such as static data sourcing, trade booking and settlement/confirmations knowledge (essential)
• Good problem solving skills
• Ability to create intelligent solutions and automations to reduce manual interventionsAbility to understand the existing implementation and suggest improvementsAbility to drive the innovation mindset in the team / department.Ensure that the project adheres to the Org level OKRs are NFRs
