Job summary

HSBC Software Development India is seeking an experienced Consultant Specialist to lead end-to-end AI/ML engineering delivery. You will own architecture and technical strategy for scalable data/AI platforms, and design high-performance data pipelines on GCP with strong governance and observability.

You will implement MLOps across the full lifecycle, deliver GenAI solutions, and apply advanced data/search techniques to support secure, compliant banking AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of software engineering experience.
• Experience in application architecture and data management.
• Familiarity with AI technologies in banking/finance.
• Proficiency with cloud computing, CI/CD, and software development lifecycle.
• Ability to influence changes within a complex organizational structure.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of AI/ML engineering solutions, accountable from design and build through production support and measurable outcomes.
• Own architecture and technical strategy for scalable, secure data/AI platforms (batch + streaming) aligned to HSBC engineering standards and controls.
• Design and build high-performance, cost-efficient data pipelines on GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow/Beam, Airflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage) with resilience and observability.
• Implement MLOps across the full lifecycle: CI/CD, automated testing, reproducible training pipelines, deployment, monitoring, and rollback.
• Deliver production-grade GenAI solutions (LLMs, RAG, agentic/multi-agent patterns) using orchestration frameworks (LangChain/LlamaIndex), prompt engineering, and robust evaluation.
• Apply strong data and search engineering: PostgreSQL/pgvector (vector + hybrid search, indexing, metadata filtering) and graph databases (e.g., FalkorDB) for graph modelling and queries.
• Drive performance optimisation using Redis caching and tuning for throughput, latency, and cost; apply rigorous model evaluation (precision/recall/F1, ROC/PR-AUC, calibration).
• Embed engineering excellence and governance: coding standards, reviews, test coverage, documentation, SLOs/incident management, plus security-by-design, compliance, and data governance for regulated environments.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on engineering practices and governance.
• Proven experience in application architecture and data management.
• Familiarity with AI technologies and their application in banking or financial services.
• Technical acumen in cloud computing, CI/CD pipelines, and software development lifecycle.
• Ability to influence and drive changes within a complex organizational structure.
• Strong analytical skills to assess engineering practices and recommend improvements.
