Job summary

Husky TechnologiesTM India seeks an experienced Design Team Lead to plan, organize and lead a design team for new product development with adherence to Product Development Process, Husky Standards and Stage Gate.

Responsibilities include estimating effort and cost, ensuring delivery meets time, cost and quality targets, and driving continuous improvement through metrics and DFMEA. Strong leadership and communication are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred, or 5 to 10 years of equivalent professional experience.
• Engineering experience: 10+ years.
• Proven leadership and project management experience.
• Strong knowledge of Product Development Process, Stage Gate and Husky Standards.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation).
• Strong sense of integrity and adaptability to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and organize a design team for new product development per Product Development Process, Husky Standards and Stage Gate.
• Provide mentorship, coaching and technical leadership to team members.
• Support marketing, product definition, VOC, and risk assessment.
• Oversee DFMEA, validation planning and design documentation.
• Manage project budgets, timelines and resource planning and communicate status to management.
• Foster open communication across disciplines and drive high-quality design outputs.

Job Description

Plan, organize and lead a design team for new product development with adherence to Product Development Process, Husky Standards and Stage Gate. Responsibilities include estimating effort and cost and ensuring delivery meets time, cost and quality targets. Implementation of continuous improvement activities including metrics, root cause analysis and implementation of improvement.

Responsibilities

• Leadership of engineering design team through Product Development Process. Specifically, supervising and supporting team members regarding:
  
• Marketing support, product definition, specification, scoping and VOC
  
• Concept development, evaluation and recommendation
  
• Risk mitigation through past service issue research, risk identification and formal DFMEA
  
• System level design with high attention to detail and adherence to Husky standards
  
• Engineering analysis using hand calculation, spreadsheet and CAE formats
  
• Design execution with high attention to detail in engineering quality
  
• Validation plan development
  
• Design document discipline
  
• Preparation for Product Release Process
  
• Team member development through: providing challenging goals, coaching, mentoring, providing technical leadership opportunity, performance management, individual development planning, interviewing and hiring
  
• Team support in developing innovative environment; both formal (tools) and informal
  
• Development of open communication amongst team, across disciplines, outside engineering
  
• Project and resource plan development
  
• Proactive management of project budgets, status, execution timeline and mitigation as required
  
• Proactive communication of team status to management
  
• Continuous development of team output to a high quality standard
  
• Weekly facilitation of team design reviews and team planning whiteboards

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of Product Development Process, Stage Gate, Husky Standards
  
• Understands Quality function deployment processes
  
• Strong knowledge of specific supporting discipline
  
• Strong knowledge of Husky products and customer base
  
• Strong project, time management skills and ability to delegate tasks and projects
  
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop/mentor a team
  
• Strong decision-making and judgment
  
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation)
  
• Strong sense of integrity
  
• Demonstrates high degree of flexibility and embraces changing priorities
  
• Previous hands on design experience
  
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred, or 5 to 10 years of equivalent professional experience.
• Engineering Experience: 10+ years.
• Proven leadership experience.

• Solid design engineering skills.
