Job summary

Husky Technologies TM in Guindy, Chennai is seeking a Designer, Development - Mechanical-Husky (India) to join our product development team. The role focuses on the complete mechanical design process for new products, from concept through to detailed CAD models and documentation.

You will apply engineering principles, perform calculations, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust, manufacturable designs, GD&T, and design for manufacturing standards.

Role Description:

• Work within a team of Engineers/Design Specialists in the development of new products. This includes all steps within a formal product development process
• Apply scientific/engineering principals in the design of machines
• Execution of conceptual and detail design - 3D modeling of parts and assemblies
• Optimize design based on manufacturing processes (DFM), assembly and test
• Sizing and selection of components (motors, sensors, bearings, gearbox, pneumatic and hydraulic components, etc) as well as material selection and application of design standards
• Perform calculations and analysis (structural FEA, thermal, dynamics, tolerance stack-up, etc..)
• Detailed drawings and application of GD&T
• Formal report writing and presentations to team members and management
• Work with team members in the validation of new designs (design and build of test stands, writing of test plans, analysis of test results, etc..)
• Contribute in design review meetings and brainstorming sessions
• Design risk mitigation including participation or facilitation of FMEA
• Contribute in a fast paced design environment
• Work closely with multidisciplinary experts – Analysis, Electrical, Software, Fluid Power, Metallurgy, Manufacturing, Validation/Test

• Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio/Project – nice to have)
• Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously, and as part of a highly cohesive team

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of Unigraphics and/or other 3D CAD software is an asset
• A strong desire to learn about mechanical design and possess a strong mechanical aptitude
• Well-rounded – hands-on mechanical ability and passion for interests and hobbies outside of work
