Southco is seeking an Engineering Services Specialist in Pune to optimize and operate engineering data systems and change management processes. You will train staff, ensure global standards, and maintain product lifecycle data.
This role requires strong design and process skills, with cross-functional collaboration across design, manufacturing and quality teams. You will manage ECP/PRN workflows, monitor change implementation, and drive efficiency by reusing designs and updating documentation.
The Engineering Services Specialist is responsible for the optimization and operation of key technologies and platforms for the management of Southco as engineering data. This includes systems for the management and approval of engineering changes, issuing of revised product drawings and documentation, and the classification and coding of product life cycle management data. This associate will train new engineering staff in Southco as change management processes, and ensuring that all global engineering standards are maintained. This role requires the ability to combine an understanding of product design with strong process management and communication skills to ensure that all system users, including design, manufacturing and quality engineering are trained and following process discipline. The engineering services specialist will continually drive to provide better information and faster response time to internal Southco customers, while ensuring that changes will have positive impacts on external customers.
1. Oversee and manage Southco as worldwide engineering change management processes, including the Engineering Change Proposal (ECP), and Product Revision Notice (PRN) systems. Provide supervision and direction to ensure that changes progress through the system in a timely, and accurate manner. Where appropriate to speed delivery, directly execute simple drawing updates or corrections within the CAD system.
2. Monitor the implementation of activities related to engineering changes, facilitate implementation and identify where additional support is needed to maintain progress. Work with engineering and operations management teams globally to introduce corrective actions where necessary
3. Manage and maintain Southco as product lifecycle management data, including drawing databases, and part classification. Working with the Manager, Global Engineering Services, develop standards and drive the process to ensure that the latest versions of all engineering documents are readily available to all constituent and all products are appropriately coded to enable maximum re-use of existing designs. Enable the tools drive efficiency for system users by quickly identifying products for re-use, particularly with regard to the development of modified products to support new customer needs.
4. Monitor key performance metrics and communicate to the global engineering community on a periodic basis. Audit the quality of process results, and where needed initiate new procedures or corrective actions to prevent recurrence of errors.
5. Maintain and deliver training to both new users, and existing users when there are systems or process changes
6. Obtain regular feedback from internal customers (engineering, operations) and drive process enhancements to enable new feature or improve system efficiencies.
