General Summary
Provides process, analysis, support, transparency, and insight on product development in order to maintain a steady stream of deliverables. Manages and tracks operational and headcount budgets. Works cross-functionally with various teams (i.e., finance, engineering, program management) to forecast and set budgets for programs and meet customer demands on support and tools. Partners with the business, third party vendors, and the broader functional teams to plan and operationalize to help execute overall strategy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Science, or related field and 5+ years of Engineering Operations or related work experience.
- Associate's degree and 7+ years of Engineering Operations or related work experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 9+ years of Engineering Operations or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
- PMP Certification.
- 8+ years of Engineering Operations or related work experience.
- 4+ years of experience with technical project management including managing resources, mitigating risk, etc.
- 4+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
- 3+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
- 2+ years of experience with business metrics such as customer support tickets, KPIs, etc.
- 2+ years of working with operating budgets and/or project financials.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Drives the improvement and development of complex tools and processes to increase efficiency; collaborates with senior leadership on implementation.
- Implements deployment programs for customers and partners; reviews complex content; influences other teams to ensure training is conducted.
- Assesses data and evaluates deviation from agreed upon metrics; ensures the right type of data is collected; makes recommendations on how to bridge gaps.
- Leverages technical expertise to negotiate with engineering management within own organization over budget requests and forecasts.
- Tracks and manages engineering expenses and timelines against budgets across a variety of engineering functions.
- Produces and reviews budget reports quarterly or as needed.
Level of Responsibility
- Works independently with little supervision.
- Makes decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have financial impact or affect projects, operations, or customer relationships.
- Uses verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels; may require strong negotiation and influence.
- Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions; is consulted by senior leadership on key decisions.
- Completes tasks that do not have defined steps; uses multiple mental abilities to determine the best approach; mistakes may result in significant rework.
- Exercises substantial creativity to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives.
- Uses deductive and inductive problem solving; may take multiple approaches to solve the problem; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.
- Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.
