Job summary

LSEG in Bengaluru seeks a senior technologist to lead the Risk Engineering development team. You will set the technical direction for risk products, drive initiatives for value and efficiency, and mentor engineers while aligning with the overall product architecture.

You will collaborate with architects, drive high quality code with automated testing, and contribute to continuous improvement within an agile team.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience managing Java-based projects and technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Core Java, J2EE, Spring, data structures, multi-threading.
  • Experience designing for AWS Cloud and building scalable architectures.
  • Proficiency with relational DBs, SQL/ORM, and data modeling.
  • Experience with unit testing, security, RESTful interfaces, and CI/CD.
  • Familiarity with Agile SDLC, TDD/BDD, and modern build tools.
  • Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development teams and set technical direction for risk products.
  • Mentor engineers, align technical choices with product architecture.
  • Oversee design, implementation, testing, and documentation.
  • Ensure code quality with automated testing and reviews.
  • Collaborate with architects, QA, and operations for delivery.
  • Participate in planning, estimation, and status updates.

Job Description

We are searching for an exceptionally skilled technologist to join the Risk Engineering development team. The role involves setting the technical direction of our Risk Products, ensuring the use of suitable technologies and driving initiatives that deliver customer value and operational efficiency. You will collaborate closely with architects to align technical choices with our overall product architecture. Mentoring and empowering team members is a key part of the role, working alongside team management to build a capable, high-performing engineering group.

Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities
  • Design, build, and maintain software systems based on business requirements.
  • Develop software using disciplined processes, adhering to team and company standards, best practices, and corporate policies.
  • Lead a group of engineers, working with the delivery lead and management to coordinate and deliver larger developments.
  • Ensure a focus on software quality through effective testing frameworks that enable teams to understand and improve development quality.
  • Collaborate with QA to deliver high‑quality code, supported by automated testing.
  • Lead component design, ensuring adherence to application architecture.
  • Provide technical support to operations or other development teams.
  • Create, review, and maintain all required technical documentation to ensure supportability and reuse.
  • Review peers’ and team members' work for quality and consistency.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including problem resolution workflows.
  • Participate in project planning sessions to analyze development requirements, propose design options, and estimate work.
  • Actively contribute to team and status meetings, providing timely updates on individual responsibilities.

Essential Skills / Experience Required
  • 15+ years of experience working on and managing Java‑based projects.
  • Core Java, J2EE, Spring framework, data structures, multi‑threading, and exception handling.
  • Experience developing for the AWS Cloud.
  • VueJS, React, or Node for building dynamic user interfaces (advantageous).
  • Working with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and proficiency in data modeling, SQL, ORM, JPA.
  • Understanding of cross‑browser compatibility and workarounds.
  • Familiarity with design patterns.
  • Experience with unit testing.
  • Solid knowledge of security implications and secure coding practices.
  • Familiarity with RESTful interfaces.
  • Experience with build tools such as Maven and Webpack.
  • Proficiency in writing clean, readable code and reusable components.
  • Experience with source control tools like Git or SVN.
  • Experience in a formal agile software development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with continuous build and integration.
  • Experience with Test‑Driven Development and/or Behavior‑Driven Development.
  • Self‑starter who gets the job done.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education / Certifications

A relevant degree is desirable, but experience and the right working approach are equally important.
