Sciometrix is hiring a senior engineering leader to drive product development in a cutting-edge digital health platform. You will mentor engineers, shape system architecture, and oversee frontend React.js and backend Node.js work on AWS.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 5–12 full-stack and backend engineers.
• Own architecture reviews and technical direction across MERN + AWS stack.
• Drive code quality, reviews, branching, tests, and CI/CD standards.
• Coordinate with Product and US leads to refine roadmaps into specs.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & People Management

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 5–12 full‑stack and backend engineers
• Run structured 1:1s, quarterly performance reviews, and career development conversations
• Drive hiring for the India engineering org — interview, assess, and onboard engineers
• Foster a culture of ownership, psychological safety, and continuous improvement

Technical Architecture

• Collaborate with senior engineers and US architects on system design and technical direction
• Lead architecture reviews for new features and platform changes
• Make sound technology trade‑off decisions across the MERN + PostgreSQL + AWS stack
• Ensure systems are designed for scalability, observability, and HIPAA compliance

Code Quality & Process

• Own and evolve the code review process — set standards, enforce them, and lead by example
• Define and roll out engineering best practices: branching strategy, PR workflows, testing standards, documentation
• Establish sprint cadences, definition of done, and engineering SLAs in coordination with Product
• Drive incident response practices and post‑mortem culture

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Product Management and US leads to refine roadmap items into engineering‑ready specs
• Participate in architecture discussions around FHIR R4, EHR integrations, and data pipelines
• Provide engineering effort estimates and technical risk assessments for planning cycles

Tech Stack & Environment

• Frontend - React.js, React Native (mobile)
• Backend - Node.js (Express), REST APIs
• Database - PostgreSQL (multi‑schema, complex queries, views)
• Cloud & Infra - AWS (ECS, RDS, ALB, Cognito, S3, CloudWatch) — us‑east‑1 Multi‑AZ
• Integrations - HL7 FHIR R4, Mirth Connect, Epic App Orchard, athenahealth

Qualifications

Required

• 8–13 years of total software engineering experience, with 4+ years managing or technically leading a team
• Strong hands‑on proficiency in Node.js and React.js (MERN minus MongoDB)
• Deep experience with PostgreSQL — schema design, query optimization, connection management
• Proven ability to lead architecture discussions and technical design reviews
• Experience running or significantly contributing to engineering process setup: code review culture, sprint processes, on‑call/incident management
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English — comfortable with async US-India collaboration

Preferred

• Experience in healthcare technology — FHIR, HL7, EHR integrations (Epic, Cerner, athenahealth), or HIPAA‑compliant systems
• Hands‑on AWS experience with ECS, RDS, ALB, or similar managed services

Familiarity with Mirth Connect or healthcare interoperability middleware

• Prior startup or scale‑up experience where you helped build engineering culture from scratch
• Background in value‑based care, CCM/RPM/BHI, or clinical data platforms
