Lead a team of Senior Frontend, Backend, and Quality Engineers at eBay in Bengaluru. The role blends hands‑on software engineering (React, Node.js, Java) with people leadership, architectural oversight, and AI‑enabled development practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and coach engineers (Frontend and Backend) to foster professional growth and technical excellence.
  • Conduct regular one‑on‑one meetings, performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, high‑trust environment that encourages innovation, ownership, and continuous learning.
  • Participate in recruitment and hiring to attract top talent.
• Technical & Architectural Guidance:
  • Make architectural decisions across the stack (ReactJS, Node.js, Java/Spring Boot, distributed systems, databases) and serve as the go‑to expert when challenges arise.
  • Collaborate with Staff Engineers to define roadmaps and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Guide AI engineering practices: evaluate agentic tools, advise on safe integration, and build AI‑blended systems thoughtfully.
  • Join code reviews and pair sessions with the team, especially when reviewing AI‑generated code, to uphold coding standards and quality.
  • Enforce coding standards, quality metrics, and security practices across all deliverables.
  • Stay current with the full technology stack: ReactJS, Node.js, Java/Spring Boot, relational & NoSQL databases, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Contribute directly to production features, allocating roughly half the time to coding.
• Project Delivery & Execution:
  • Oversee end‑to‑end delivery of features—from planning and estimation to testing and deployment.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into engineering plans.
  • Facilitate Agile/Scrum processes, managing risks, dependencies, and timelines.
  • Champion a strong quality mindset, working with the Senior Quality Engineer to establish robust testing strategies and automation.
• Strategic Planning & Vision:
  • Contribute to the broader engineering strategy and technical vision for the organization.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in web development, distributed systems, and QA.
  • Identify process improvements, automation, and innovation opportunities within team operations.
• Communication & Collaboration:
  • Serve as key liaison between the engineering team and other departments, communicating progress, challenges, and insights.
  • Drive cross‑team collaboration and knowledge sharing to ensure alignment and leverage expertise across the organization.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, including at least 3+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role.
• Strong foundational knowledge in modern web development:
  • Frontend: Proficient in ReactJS, modern JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and state management libraries.
  • Backend: Experience building scalable distributed systems with Java/J2EE (Spring Boot preferred) and/or Node.js.
  • Databases: Comfortable with relational (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) databases.
  • APIs: Proficient in RESTful and/or GraphQL API design and consumption.
• Quality Assurance Mindset: Deep understanding of software quality principles, test automation strategies (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress), and CI/CD pipelines.
• System Design: Prior experience designing and architecting highly scalable, performant, and resilient web applications and services.
• Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Agile Methodologies: Demonstrated leadership of teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and grow engineering teams; excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
