Job summary

Rippling is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Managed Connectors team to lead the build of scalable data connectors powering Rippling's analytics products. You will drive product delivery, enforce engineering best practices, and oversee complex distributed systems across a global team.

You will lead and grow Bangalore-based engineers, shape architecture, and own the technology roadmap while collaborating with product managers to align with business OKRs.

Join us as the Engineering Manager for the Managed Connectors team and take the lead in shaping the future of a billion dollar vertical. This is a rare opportunity to bring your drive, initiative, and technical acumen to a high-growth role where you’ll be working on building and maintaining the scalable data connectors that power our analytics products across the company.

The highest level decision makers at Rippling's client companies use the Business Intelligence products owned by the Reporting and analytics team to oversee the operations of their business. Our products pull in data from all 30 plus product verticals at Rippling and allow our customers to build deep analytics and analysis.

Interesting problems that you will own:

• Launch Rippling's Dashboards product which will be the home page of all Rippling customers when they first log into the application.
• Help build the systems that can run real-time analytics on top of millions of rows of data with sub-2s latency using open source technologies such as Apache Presto, Apache Pinot and many others.
• Scale the team in Bangalore including hiring additional staff engineers and managers.

About the team

The Managed Connectors team is responsible for integrating data from external sources and internal Rippling products to fuel the company's analytics ecosystem. We build the bridges that allow our customers to bring in data from sources such as GitHub, Salesforce, and Google Calendar to drive deep insights and trends analysis.

We have over 30 engineers spread throughout the world from San Francisco, to Toronto to Bangalore.

We are currently running over sixty thousand analytical workloads every day for our customers and are going to be launching several hundred thousand very shortly.

What you will do

• Drive product delivery, enforce engineering best practices and oversee the design and implementation of complex distributed systems.
• Lead a team of passionate software engineers that prides itself on ownership and impact
• Create a culture that insists on meeting expectations, and delivering value
• Be hands-on in technical architecture and reviews
• Define the technology roadmap for the team and liaison with the business teams and product managers to shape the business OKR planning
• Help the organization scale and grow with the business
• Drive automated solutions that enable better efficiency and process improvement

What you will need

• At least 8 years of experience in software development and delivery, with in-depth knowledge of software architectures; must have at least 3 years of experience as an Engineering Managers in leading development teams.
• Solid engineering skills, a track record, and passion for improving the code structure and architecture to enhance testability and maintainability.
• Team development skills: ability to set a roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate intelligently, offer engineering advice, deliver frequent and transparent feedback, work with team members to grow in their careers, and ensure everyone delivers quality results.
• Great project management skills to lead, care about product ownership, an outstanding customer-centric mindset, and solving problems for our customers.
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or experience in a relevant field.
