About the role

You will be leading the newly formed Travel Integrations team, which is playing a pivotal role in redefining the future of corporate travel. Customers love that Rippling has built an all-in-one platform for corporate cards, expense management, accounting automation, and more, simplifying the lives of financial admins. Following the success of our Spend Management product, we have recently launched Rippling Travel to further this vision.

As the Engineering Manager for Travel Integrations, you will be at the heart of this new venture. You will build and lead the team responsible for architecting and developing a new, scalable platform from the ground up. This platform will serve as the backbone of our travel product, connecting Rippling to a diverse ecosystem of global travel data providers.

You\'ll hire and mentor a world-class team, driving the technical strategy for integrating with third-party travel partners and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and low latency of a system critically dependent on external APIs. You will directly impact customers, drive improvements in cross-team initiatives, and uphold rigorous technical standards within your team. This is a unique opportunity to define the technical foundation of a major new product line, solve complex integration challenges, and deliver an exceptional travel experience that is seamlessly woven into the Rippling all-in-one platform.

About the team

The Travel Integrations team is a newly formed, foundational team whose mission is to connect Rippling to the world of travel. This team is responsible for building a new, robust platform from the ground up that will integrate with a diverse set of third-party travel providers—from modern flight and hotel APIs to traditional Global Distribution Systems (GDS).

While the direct consumers of this platform are other engineering teams building the Rippling Travel product, the team\'s work is the critical backbone that powers the entire travel experience for every customer. The availability and breadth of our travel offerings are directly dependent on the success and scalability of this team\'s platform. The team is in a unique position to act as a force multiplier for a major new company initiative; by building reliable, high-performing integrations, you will directly enable the growth and success of the Rippling Travel product.

Identify inefficiencies within the team and drive process and system enhancements that will support scaling the team.

What you will need

Demonstrate a track record of 8+ years of professional experience utilizing a modern backend programming language (i.e. Go, Python, Java, Kotlin) for APIs, batch jobs, etc.
Possess 1+ years of professional experience leading a team of engineers.
Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals, providing you with a solid foundation to help mentor engineers to tackle complex technical problems and drive innovation.
Previous experience managing the complete project lifecycle, transforming intricate ideas into successful launches.
Demonstrate a keen product sense that advocates for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Outstanding capacity to convey intricate technical concepts clearly and precisely, both in written and verbal communication, while collaborating effectively across diverse functional teams.
Experience with Go is a plus but not required
