Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
• 3–6 years' experience in 3‑phase electric locomotives/EMUs/metros.
• Expertise in troubleshooting of propulsion systems and IGBT-based propulsion and auxiliary subsystems.
• Good understanding of electrical schematics, logic and controls.
• Willingness to travel 20–30% of time.

Responsibilities

• Provide second‑level technical support to running product lines, resolving hardware or software issues.
• Coordinate with Global Engineering / PLCM teams for hardware/software corrections and product improvements.
• Ensure software/logic modifications are lab or field validated.
• Discuss and propose software logic/parameter tuning based on analysis and validation.
• Interact with customers and internal teams for technical discussions and issue resolution.
• Support Traction Technical and PLCM teams.

Job description

This Position reports to:

Head of Services - Traction, India

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate the technical capability by providing technical support to site engineers, resolving critical issues (Software/hardware) of propulsion equipment used in three phase electric locomotive.

This role is contributing to the Motion business for Traction division based in Bangalore, India:

• Responsible for providing second level technical support to running product lines to resolve the chronicle issues related to hardware or software and co-ordinate with respective stake holder (Global Engineering /PLCM team) to correction of hardware/software issues as per requirement of customer as well as for improvement of product.
• Apply expertise to understanding the product control logic as well as improvement proposed to related stake holder for product improvement.
• Ensure the software/logic modifications lab or field level test/validation.
• Discuss and suggest software logic /parameter regarding Fine-tune the software depend on the analysis and validation.
• Counter partners for all the technical interaction with customers and internal teams.
• Support to Traction Technical and PLCM team.

Qualifications for the role :

• Degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering OR E&E (Electrical Engineering) completed by recognized University and proven track record in resolving critical problem and good understanding of electrical Schematic, logic and controls.
• Team leading capability and experience 3 to 6 years of 3 phase electric locomotives /EMU's/ metro propulsion chain.
• Demonstrable expertise in Troubleshooting of rolling stock Equipment's, fault finding analysis in terms of drive train (preferably IR 3 phase Electric locomotives.
• Expertise in Troubleshooting of IGBT based Propulsion system as well as Auxiliary, Battery charger and Propulsion of EMU and metros.
• Good understanding of electrical installations in rail vehicles (Knowledge on Electrical Locomotive/EMU/Metro is an advantage)
• Basic knowledge of protocols like CANopen, J1939, Ethernet (TCPIP/UDP/TRDP), MVB is an advantage. A Well-structured approach to problem solving and ability to learn fast
• Ability to work effectively in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across the globe. Readiness to travel for customer meetings & product performance corrective Ness (approx. 20-30% of working hours). Good communication skills.
