Job summary

Talent Hired-the Job Store is seeking an experienced engineer to design and optimize commercial vehicle steering systems, including gearboxes, pumps, columns and drag links. You will perform packaging studies, drive shaft kinematics, and contribute to PLM release documentation.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, apply DFMEA and GD&T principles, and ensure targeting quality, cost, and delivery metrics are met. A strong CATIA background is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Experience in design and layout of commercial vehicle steering systems.
• Ability to perform drag link and steering effort calculations.
• Proficiency with CATIA for solid, surface, sheet metal, casting and assembly.
• Knowledge of vehicle integration, DMU and packaging.
• Understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up and DFMEA.

Responsibilities

• Own concept design, evaluation and finalisation of the steering system.
• Carry out steering packaging and layout studies, including vehicle layouts.
• Select steering gearbox, pump, column and drag link.
• Perform drag link calculations, steering effort calculations and linkage kinematics studies.
• Provide inputs for FEA structural analysis and iterate the design to clear it.
• Meet the Quality, Cost and Delivery targets of each project.
• Document project deliverables: design proposals, DFMEA, design calculations and DVP.
• Work with cross-functional teams to meet DFM, DFA and DFS requirements.

5. Roles and Responsibilities

• Solve technical issues through the 8D approach and QC tools, including root cause analysis of field failures.
• Identify critical-to-quality parameters and apply control parameters on drawings.
• Benchmark competitor designs and submit reports.
