Job Description: Sourcing (Off‑the‑Shelf (OTS))
Location: Yelahanka, Bangalore
You Will
We are looking for a detail‑oriented and technically proficient Off‑the‑Shelf (OTS – Suspension, RVM, Fasteners, Brakes, etc.) Components Lead to join our Strategic Sourcing team. This role is critical in sourcing, validating, and managing commercially available components that go into our products. You will work closely with design, procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure that chosen components meet technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements.
To Be Successful, You Will Be Expected To
- Component Strategy & Selection: Identify, evaluate, and select optimal off‑the‑shelf components (electrical, electronic, mechanical) for product development based on performance, cost, availability, and lifecycle considerations.
- Supplier Identification & Qualification: Map global and domestic supplier landscapes; lead RFI/RFP/RFQ processes. Establish qualification protocols, audit plans, and scorecards to ensure supplier capabilities and compliance.
- Cost Management & Negotiation: Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction initiatives—targeting 8–10% annual savings. Lead high‑stakes negotiations on contract terms, volume discounts, and tooling investments. Implement part costing, should‑cost analysis, contractualization and drive cost reduction initiatives.
- New Product Development: Participate in DFx processes, DFMEA, PFMEA. Lead part development from prototype to mass production, including prototype and mass‑production tool & fixture development. Calculate capacity and set up capacity as required.
- Vendor Management: Identify, select and approve suppliers; conduct supplier audits and maintain relationships to ensure timely delivery of high‑quality components. Identify improvement plans with suppliers to meet SEPL requirements, maintain SRM, conduct quarterly business reviews (QBR).
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with NPD, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to balance design for cost, manufacturability, and performance. Fast‑track prototype tool builds, pilot runs, and scale‑up sourcing for high‑volume launches.
- Risk & Quality Assurance: Implement supplier risk assessments (financial, geopolitical, capacity) and develop mitigation plans. Set and monitor quality KPIs (PPM, defect trends, on‑time delivery) with continuous improvement roadmaps.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain component databases, datasheets, and compliance documentation (RoHS, REACH, UL, ISO standards). Monitor component obsolescence, lead time risks, and suggest alternatives to reduce supply‑chain disruption.
- Tech Scouting & Innovation: Stay updated with emerging technologies, component innovations, and market trends to inform design improvements.
You Must Have
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or related engineering discipline.
- 2–4+ years of experience in component engineering, product development, or technical sourcing in a hardware‑focused environment.
- Strong understanding of OTS components across mechanical, electrical, and electronic domains.
- Experience with component databases, PLM systems, and compliance tools (e.g., Silicon Expert, Octo Part).
- Excellent cross‑functional collaboration and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills.
- Prior experience working with EV, automotive, IoT, consumer electronics, or industrial products is a plus.
- Familiarity with design tools (Altium, SolidWorks, CAD) and product development workflows.
- Knowledge of global supply chain and vendor ecosystems.
- Experience in working with quality, certification, and compliance bodies.
