Job summary

Qualcomm India Private Limited is seeking a Staff Engineer (Multimedia/Camera) with strong hands-on Linux kernel driver development experience and a track record of upstream contributions. You will lead architecture decisions, own features end-to-end from bring-up to commercialization, and mentor a large engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design decisions for complex multimedia systems.
• Drive end-to-end ownership from pre-silicon bring-up to commercialization in camera domain.
• Mentor and manage a team of 10+ engineers with planning and reviews.
• Work directly with customers to understand requirements and resolve issues.
• Contribute to open-source upstream projects in Linux camera/media stacks.

• Job Description – Staff Engineer (Multimedia / Camera)


• Strong hands‑on experience in Linux kernel driver development, with deep understanding of kernel internals and device drivers.


• Proven track record of upstream Linux kernel contributions, including camera and multimedia subsystem upstreaming, Active participation in open source community discussions.


• Solid experience working with open‑source multimedia architectures (V4L2, Media Controller, libcamera, etc.).


• End‑to‑end ownership of features across the full product lifecycle — from pre‑silicon enablement, bring‑up, through commercialization, with camera domain experience strongly preferred.


• Acts as a technical lead, driving architecture and design decisions for complex multimedia systems.


• Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams (10+ engineers team), including task planning, technical guidance, and design reviews.


• Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers, understand requirements, debug critical issues, and drive solutions to closure.


• Experience in IOT segement

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  OR
  Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  OR
  PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.


• 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
