Job summary

Eaton Life Safety Division seeks a Sr. Engg Firmware to develop next-generation embedded firmware for edge devices in Life Safety systems.

You’ll work with product owners and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable firmware solutions on Linux-based platforms. The role emphasizes strong C/C++, RTOS experience, and debugging skills with hardware interfaces, JTAG, and testing pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution required.
• 3+ years of experience in embedded RTOS firmware development, device drivers, data structures.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the software development through design and implementation of high-performance firmware based on Linux.
• Define a structured software solution meeting technical requirements, optimizing performance, security & reusability.
• Translate business features into technical requirements and acceptance criteria for the development team.
• Work with stakeholders, engineering and test to create high-quality products solving customer problems.
• Develop and execute plans for incremental and interactive project delivery.
• Author high-quality unit-tested code and enable software reuse.
• Collaborate with test team to ensure adequate test coverage with defined software quality metrics.

Qualifications:

Skills:

Industrial Ethernet protocols like EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profinet, BACnet IP, 61850 and or device level field bus technologies -Modbus, Device Net, Profibus DP, BACNet, REST is preferred. Good knowledge on Linux (Driver, Kernel) , API based framrworks or SDK.

"Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.Experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr) and bare-metal programming.Familiarity with hardware debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG).Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).Experience with ARM Cortex-M or similar microcontroller architectures.Knowledge of low-power design and optimization techniques.Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for test automation.Exposure to Agile development methodologies."
